Spring trends I'm obsessed with

Well if it isn't my old friend, the style blog post. It's been a pretty long time since I've done one of these but I feel like there's something in the air right now. Inspiration. Mojo. The hope of good weather to come (although chance seems to be a fine thing). Whatever it is, the love of fashion is tingling right now so I thought I'd dive into a few of the trends that I'm really feeling at the moment, and which pieces I'm eyeing up.

First up is the epitome of this time of year as far as I'm concerned. I would go as far as to call them 'Spring tops' if we were putting them in a category, as pastels, floatiness and cute detailing are so perfect for this time of year and they come round again and again. This year, the specific type of Spring top that seems to be the favourite is a tied one. Some are tied at the front, some are tied at the back and they tend to have 2 or 3 ties to keep it fixed. While there's definitely a fine line between these style of tops and hospital scrubs (some toe the line better than others), some of these are absolutely beautiful. The thing I love most about a really really nice top is that it makes jeans and a nice top easier than ever to achieve. Whether it's with trainers for a shopping day, or with heels for a bottomless brunch, these tied floaty tops are statement pieces that do all the work for you.

Given that I'm such a lover of holidays and travel, it should really come as no surprise that I love holiday-adjacent things. Shells are my love of the moment and it's stretching into everything from shell print clothes, to shell jewellery, to shell homeware like candles and glasses. There are so many cute pieces at the moment that I'm wondering how far I can push the kitsch boundary (especially since cutesy is not exactly how you'd describe my style, even less so me). Regardless, great trend that I'll be very definitely jumping on.

I'm one of those rare freaks who actually love jeans. Jeans over trousers, jeans over leggings, jeans over everything. And I literally have about 20 pairs because of that simple fact. However, I guess they can get a bit samey. Most of them are either black or blue (of varying shades). But the pile of jeans that I reach for in Spring is the ones categorised as 'coloured'. Whether they're sage or beige, I love a coloured denim at this time of year and I'm currently on the hunt for some brown ones and potentially some new pastel ones. They're a great option for eliminating monotone from your wardrobe and keeping things a bit more exciting!

There are some combinations in life that are universally agreed are a good idea. Strawberries and cream. Wine and cheese. Hangovers and mcdonalds breakfasts. Then there are other combinations that are a bit more controversial, but sometimes they just work anyway. Pineapple and pizza. Cats and dogs. Crisps and chocolate. My controversial yet delicious pairing when it comes to style is red and pink. Many naysayers will tell you that these colours don't belong together; that they clash and overwhelm. But I've always been a fan and I'm seeing so many gorgeous Spring outfits at the moment that only make me stand firmer on this belief. Don't knock it until you've tried it!

I've always been pretty boring when it comes to my hair. In fact for years, it was strictly straight only. Now I do alternate between straight, waved, curled and, very occasionally, crimped. But I still would say I'm definitely an experimental makeup person rather than hair. Which is probably why I'm a big fan of cute hair accessories because they're a really simple but effective way of making your hairstyle look more exciting. Minimal effort for maximum payback? I can get on that sort of trend any day of the week.
