Summer prep with primark
Forgive the fact that this is going to be an entirely low budget blog post; I'm talking both about the contents and the production value (ie. a couple of quick photos I snapped when trying things on). But I'm aware that I'm getting worse and worse with the frequency and consistency of my blog posts, so thought it'd be better to be cheap and cheerful than nothing at all. Plus who doesn't love a bit of primark? You know how they say you wait 30 minutes for a bus and then 3 come at once? Well I waited 6 months for a primark trip and then went 3 times in the last 3 months. I mean, I've sort of created a primark cycle for myself, whereby I can never be bothered to try stuff on when I'm in there so I risk it and buy it, and atleast one thing has to go back. When I go to return the offending item(s), I find myself having "just a little look" round and coming out with another big bag full. Lather rinse repeat. So this is the third time, and given that there's one thing I'm considering returning, who knows if I'll ever escape the loop? What a shame, I guess I'll just have to keep shopping until I drop.
Sunglasses case £2.50
Sunglasses chain £2.50
Summer holidays are very much on the horizon and so I was on the hunt for some summery accessories. I couldn't resist this adorable straw sunglasses case for only £2.50 although ironically I couldn't find any sunglasses that I liked to go with it. So for now it's just an empty case, but I guess that's just a perfect excuse to buy some more sunglasses soon to fill it. Sticking with the sunglasses, I also bout this seashell chain which I thought was very cute. Not overly me as it's very boho chic, but let's see if I can manage to pull it off while I'm on holiday!
Orange shorts £10
White cami £3
I love Primark's tailored stuff; to say how cheap everything is, they actually have nice patterns that are often cut like much more expensive pieces. Compared to shein for example, I feel like it's harder to tell that it's a bargain. These shorts were only £10 and they're such a unique shade of orange that I fell in love with them at first sight! They did come with a matching blazer that I was tempted by but realistically, the amount of wear I'd get out of a matching short suit is tiny so I kept it at just the shorts. Something I will get a lot of wear out of though is this little cami top, for a staggering £3. I've been on the lookout for a square neck white cami top for a while and I like the little spaghetti elastic straps on this one. For the price you can't go wrong really can you?
Shorts £14
I was very much on a shorts shopping trip it seems (as you'll see) and the next pair that went straight in my basket were these pretty crochet ones. I love the detailing and the neutral tones and feel like these will be perfect on holiday! I was torn on sizing as primark can be very unreliable; sometimes coming up way too big and sometimes coming up way too small. But thankfully, these were bang on as they only had a 10 so I didn't have the option to play it safe with multiple sizes.
Multi-layer necklace £3.50
Powder brush £2.50
Another couple of bits and bobs here! I can never resist a nosey around the jewellery section in Primark and I thought this layered necklace would be perfect for holiday; it has a very beachy vibe. And then I also picked up a new powder brush because their beauty accessories are really nice quality and even better on the price front.
Chino shorts £12
Knitted vest £7
These shorts are the one item in the bag I'm unsure about. I love the fabric and technically they fit perfectly, but I feel like maybe they look too fitted and would look better oversized? I'm also concerned they're a bit see-through (a common problem when shopping for white clothes) so I think maybe they're going to be the reason for locking in another primark trip within the next 28 days. One thing I definitely won't be returning though is this striped top. I love a fine knitted fabric because it always just feels really high quality and expensive, despite the fact this top was only £7! Plus stripes for summer are always a good idea.
Crochet shorts £14
You thought one pair of the crochet shorts was enough? Think again! I tried to be sensible here, I really did. I told myself I only needed one or the other. But they both just felt like must-haves and both colour options felt perfect for holiday, so I listened to the devil on my shoulder instead of the angel and got both. Although for only £14, I don't think that halo has slipped entirely.
Gold lace up heels £14
Like Carrie Bradshaw, I have a bit of a shoe problem. Although granted, mine don't cost me £900 a pop. I do however believe you can very rarely have too many, and I had my sights set on a low heeled gold pair for those holiday evenings. I wear almost exclusively gold jewellery these days, so gold heels would go with everything I wear. I'd ordered a similar pair to this from shein which had arrived a few days before but they didn't fit great. So when I spotted these in primark, I knew it was going to save me an online hunt. They fit perfectly and are exactly what I was after. Plus I love a lace-up pair for holiday. Although I don't love the faff of putting them on, hence why you've only got a photo of the shoes on their own, rather than on my foot. Well, that and you know, there are loads of weird foot fetish guys online.
