PSA: a sale that's actually amazing

I've never really been one for sale shopping. Everything is a mess, it's usually just crap that no one else wants, the sizes leftover are always either tiny or massive. Then I guess when I transitioned to online shopping, I just took that disinterest in sale surfing with me, even though it eliminates a lot of the problems mentioned. However, while I was bored earlier this month (it's January, who isn't bored right?), I decided to actually look at the ASOS sale. All online sales promote things like "up to 80% off", and usually they get away with it by discounting one ugly piece by 80% and then the rest has less than 10% off and it's hardly worth your time. I am here to tell you, that this ASOS sale is different! They genuinely are offering amazing deals, like coats down from £80 to £30, and cute tops down from £37 to £16. Plus, they keep offering discount codes that apply to sale items too, so you can get some right steals. Which naturally, I took full advantage of with a massive haul. I actually bought loads so I wasn't going to painstakingly photograph everything, but I thought I'd give you a little flavour of some of my best sale picks.
Miss Selfridge is a brand that I keep falling more and more back in love with at the minute. They always offer the loveliest quality with timeless pieces that you can keep forever. I'm really surprised going back on the link for this top and seeing it has bad reviews. I love it! It's a super thick fabric and fits really nicely. The skirt is a bit of a tricky one as I fell instantly in love with it - the print and the mixed fabrics are gorgeous. Unfortunately, it's a petite one and I'm pretty sure it would be short on a petite person, so it's practically knicker-revealing on me. However, I loved it so much and it was only £9 so I figured I'd risk it.

I'm loving all things neutral at the moment, to the point where I'm getting obsessed. I felt like this 70s print was the perfect way to combine neutrals with a little colour, and it's perfect for those jeans-and-a-nice-top occasions. It fits a little weirdly on the chest (there's some pinched extra fabric that feels like it needn't be there) but I forgave that on the basis of it being only £14. I know white jeans aren't particularly seasonal at the moment, but my old ones were staring at me and I was acutely aware they were way too big and needed replacing. These Bershka ones weren't actually a sale find, but they were a perfect fit so I made an exception.

I guess the whole point of me looking in the sale at all, is that for a while now I've wanted to focus on the quality of my wardrobe (rather than quantity). Shein is great for a number of things and it will maintain its place in my favourites list, but I think it has a time and place. For many things, I'm now looking towards more quality brands. The problem with quality is that it's costly, so the ASOS sale was the perfect place to try and snag some quality pieces for less-high-quality price. This lace blouse is gorgeous and the fabric feels expensive the second you touch it. As does this skirt, which was another quest for quality. Annoyingly they had sold out in my size so I had to size up and it is a little on the big side. But just enough to get away with it, so I decided to keep it. Both items were a steal. The top was £17 down from £34, and the skirt was £25 down from £45. Although be wary of the seemingly elastic prices in this sale, as both prices are now up from when I bought them.

Topshop is another brand having a bit of a revival in my heart. In fact all the brands I used to love when I was at college (and first starting this blog), are the ones I'm reaching for at the moment. I loved this top because I feel like I have loads of nice tops for date nights, girls nights etc, but loads of them are either cropped or booby or both. I kind of wanted a couple of more modest options so they'd double as daytime or work options. This beige top is a perfect example and I love the crinkly fabric as it adds a bit of something different to it. The jeans were another essential I was replacing; I'd got rid of my leather-look jeans a while ago and wanted a new pair. These aren't a perfect choice; they may be called high rise but I would grade them as mid-rise since they come up to below the belly button. They wouldn't be my first choice of fit because of that, but loved the quality and they were a bargain at £15 so I let them stay. Another bargain was this shacket, at under £20. However, that's the ceiling of what I'd pay for it anyway and the only reason it's staying is because I love the oversized dogtooth print so much. The quality really isn't there, it's unlined and not very soft at all. NaaNaa isn't a brand I've come across before but how they could ever justify charging £75 (!!!) for this at full price is beyond me. They're lucky I'm such a dogtooth obsessive so I've let that one slide.
