Shein haul highlights
I’m very much a woman on a mission lately. On a mission to declutter my wardrobe of things I no longer wear (or still love but that have had their wear) and evolve my style a little. I think lockdown, with all it’s wonderful perks, has left me a little unsure of what I still wear, what I don’t like anymore and how I want to dress going forward. So naturally, along with “out with the old”, it’s been in with the new. A LOT. My latest shein order was so big that I didn’t have the time, patience or inclination to photograph and chat you through everything so instead I’ve put together a highlights reel. My favourite pieces from it that I think you’ll love too!
First up, I felt like I needed more neutrals in my wardrobe. Nude tones in simple cuts that would go with loads. So I got this little crop top with seam detail. I’m loving the seam detailing and I haven’t bought anything in this style for a while so I felt like I could do with some. It also perfectly matches the flecks of colour in this skirt. I love my floaty midi skirts, especially now I’m back in the office more, and this one makes a nice (ever so slight) change of pace from my animal print skirts. I love the fit and the cut so much and just know it’ll work equally well for work as it will for a family meal out.
Next on the list were some new wide leg trousers and the colour on these is THE dreamiest. I feel like I’m being fairly cautious right now on buying super summery items (even though we’re only just in August) and instead I’m trying to choose things that will have more longevity. These will be perfect over the sunny period with strappy tops, and just as nice as it cools down paired with blouses. They’re also the softest fabric! I am a little worried they might be slightly see-through though so I’ll have to choose my underwear strategically. Another great piece that will work in every season is this top. I feel like it definitely looks a lot more expensive than it is and the thick knit material will see me through.
As I mentioned, I’m back in the office more now and it’s becoming apparent to me that I don’t have a lot of things I want to wear to it. A lot of my skirts and dresses are too short and the ones that aren’t, feel a bit formal for what is a very casual office. So I’ve been building up my summer work wardrobe and this halter neck dress seemed to fit the bill perfectly. I love the leopard print and neutral tones, as well as the frill tier detail at the bottom which adds a nice bit of something-something.
I've pretty much come full circle back to the styles I loved when I first started my blog! Back then (2014!!!) I was loving pastel colours and co-ords and right now, I'm loving pastel colours and co-ords. But rather than anything in a pineapple or similarly kitsch print, I'm loving the muted co-ords this time around. I love this one for a number of reasons. Firstly, the shoulder pads in the top make the shape really lovely and the fit of the overall set is really nice. Secondly, I love the textured marl blue colour. Thirdly, I love both parts of it separately as well as together, so it'll work in a wide variety of outfits. I think they call that a win-win-win.
Anyone who knows me (or who has ever had a peek inside my jewellery box) will know that I'm pretty obsessed with face outline prints. And apparently, that obsession is starting to creep into my wardrobe too as I just couldn't resist this pair of jeans. In all honesty, if it weren't for the print, I wouldn't have got them. The fit is not really my usual style (wider leg than a standard mom jean to the point they're verging on flares) because I'm not really sure they suit my shape all that well. However, I really like them and think as long as they're styled up with a fitted top or bodysuit and a nice pair of heels then they'll work a treat. In this case, I paired them with white heels and this white top which is that lovely, shiny kind of knit fabric that always feels super luxurious. I love the detailing around the neckline plus the fact that it isn't too thick means it'll work all year round.
The last outfit is such a dreamy combo of neutrals! I'm loving tailored shorts at the moment and I'm focussing on pairs now that will work just as well with black tights (given the weather we're having right now, I won't get much wear out of any without). This brown linen pair are a lovely fit and just the right length, plus I love the rattan style belt that comes with them. They're just a lovely, easy wardrobe staple. The top, on the other hand, is the opposite of easy! It's a hook and eye corset-style (which makes it a faff to put on), with a suede bottom half and blouse-material top half. The neckline is plunging so you can't wear a normal bra or a strapless but the fabric is pretty sheer so you can't go braless unless you're a lot braver and more of an exhibitionist than I am. LUCKILY, I have a Wonderbra that's a super weird shape and looks so strange off, but on it works perfectly with plunging tops and it did just the trick with this one. Although from my moaning you might assume I don't like the top, in actual fact I love it. The fit, the style, the neutral shade. You know what Bob Marley said: if a top's amazing, it won't be easy; if it's easy, it won't be amazing. Atleast I'm pretty sure that's how the quote goes...
