Spread a little mustard

I think we're all in need of a little sunshine right now. And while today's glow has been lovely, I think it'll still be a month or so until we're at peak vitamin D levels. So if you can't get it from mother nature, then you have to turn to other avenues. Like injecting a little sunshine into your wardrobe with splashes of mustard! Whatever the occasion...

For working from home

I respect all of you roll-out-of-bed-and-work-in-my-pjs people but that could never be me. Fashion forms such a big part of who I am that it's not just a way of life; it's a mindset too. If I'm wearing pyjamas, it's because I'm sleeping or having a lazy Sunday. Not working. So to get me in the mindset, a working day needs a working outfit. For me, that normally means tailored trousers. This mustard pair were from Forever 21, which isn't somewhere I often shop but I love them and they fit so perfectly. I added high neck black blouse, mustard headband (all about that Blair Waldorf level coordination) and then court heels - for the photo. Even I'm not weird enough to wear heels around the house.

For a supermarket shop

While the supermarket shop used to be something you wedged in when you had time, it's now the highlight of the social calendar. A jumper dress makes a great smart casual winter outfit and I love the crochet detailing on this one. It's also super warm so I could go bare legged without being cold, and I added embroidered heeled boots, which also have a splash of mustard so they went nicely. I finished with a bit more floral embroidery in the shape of this primark coat.

For a daily walk

Back again with these mustard trousers, just to show what a wardrobe essential they are! I love the underwear as outerwear trend and lace bodysuits are a perfect way to achieve it. I like to incorporate some contrast so I wore a black lace bodysuit over a white long sleeve top and then added Stan Smith trainers to keep things casual. Because we're still in February, I added a long tailored coat over the top.

For something exciting

You know, like going to get a takeaway coffee or going to buy paint from wilko. Because let's face it, we have to get our excitement where we can these days! This skirt was from topshop (goodbye old friend) and has been a firm favourite in my wardrove since my college days. I love the print and the subtle colour palette that makes it perfect to match with bright items. I wore white heeled boots, white queen bee top and then added my mustard suede jacket as my bright item of choice!
