Shorty a lil baddie
Who said that shorts were just for summer? I certainly don't think so. It's just instead of sandals and a crop top, you pair them with boots and roll necks. And actually, I've been wearing more shorts lately than skirts because I think they look great with jumpers and other bulkier tops because they often give you more shape than a skirt does. Here's how I've been styling some of my shorts lately!
After getting over the initial hurt at having to shop in the men's range before finding a hat to fit my head (I have a big brain okay!), I think a fedora makes for a great wintery accessory. Apart from the fedora being more of a 50s accessory, I've woven it into a very 60s era outfit. The dogtooth, the white boots, the boxy jacket! I love the double-breasted style of this shein blazer and it made a nice statement against my otherwise colour-block outfit. White strappy t-shirt, pink tailored shorts and white heeled boots to finish it off.
I hate the dark evenings, I hate the cold weather and I hate the lack of vitamin D, but one good thing about winter is the layering! I think fashion is so much easier to nail when there's accessories involved and this silk scarf that I got in Milan is a firm favourite. Because of the streaks of dark pink, it went perfectly with this berry wrap top, which is actually a peplum style but worked pretty well tucked in to the shorts. The shorts made for a nice subtle print clash as they're a light check, but not enough that the outfit was too much! Again, I finished with my white heeled boots and threw a black mac over the top.
It may not totally be bare leg weather, but while there's no need to leave the house and my heating is perfectly toastie, I didn't see any reason not to. Especially since these shoes are not the kind you can wear with tights and I really wanted to show them off! I'm really loving a square toe at the moment and these brown mules are the loveliest shade. They didn't 100% match the colour of the leather shorts (which are slightly warmer) but enough that they made a nice pairing! I added a navy roll neck, long tailored coat and then added a sprinkling of excitement with this silk printed scarf but worn as a belt instead!
