She my lil boot thang
Shoes used to be a daily given. Something that needed to go on your feet for one purpose or another, every single day. Now? They're kind of reserved for special occasions like going to the supermarket or your vaccine appointment and I have to say that I'm starting to worry about my ability to walk in heels once everything goes back to normal. But purpose or no purpose, no good outfit is complete without the perfect pair of shoes and right now, we're smack bang in the middle of boot season!
I love wearing nautical colours together and yet it's a fine balancing act; you don't want to look as though you're a sailor just porting at Calais. This bag is always a great starting point when trying to tie together white, blue and red and it is the loveliest quality (not surprising considering it's an Aldo one). And it makes outfit building very simple - just match a different element to each shade! In this case, I layered a creamy white top under a navy jumpsuit and then added red suede boots. I love the flared sleeves and broderie anglaise detailing on the top and the jumpsuit has sweet little striped buttons which is a nice touch. As for the boots, I love them so much that I'm now onto my second pair after my first pair gave up the ghost from too much wear!
These kind of skirts are always my favourite to photograph as I simply can't resist twirling and swooshing to my heart's content! And while you may naturally jump to assuming that they're the perfect item for summer, that doesn't mean they can't be the perfect item for winter too. Simply swap out camis and sandals for roll necks and boots! I kept things monochrome on this occasion and added a black roll neck, white heeled boots and then my favourite aviator jacket which was an absolute bargain from primark.
I obviously couldn't do a blog post centred around boots without mentioning these bad boys! They were a great little purchase in the ASOS sale and were a total steal (I can't remember now if they were £19 or £15? Great either way). I really wanted a mid length boot to offer a nice alternative to my thigh-highs and these with their croc finish and pointed toes were perfect. I also think they look very chic as part of this work outfit! I wore rusty red a-line skirt and black and white 2-in-1 pearl embellished top, then finished the look with my black trench coat.
