50 shades of brown
Neutrals and winter go together like rhubarb and custard (the best sweets ever) and so naturally, I've been dressing in 50 shades of brown since like the middle of September. There's just so many gorgeous shades, from rich chocolate to warm tan to cool coffee. Here's how I've been styling 50 shades of brown in my recent outfits!
This shirt is one that always reminds me of a pyjama top but in a cool way? I like how slouchy it fits and it's crazy comfortable. I also like the open neckline too because it means it goes better with necklaces than normal shirts do - this time I made the most of it by adding a multi-layer gold necklace. I stuck with the gold accessories by adding my j'adore belt to these cargo-style pants. I wasn't content with how much brown was going on in the outfit so far though so I added my chocolate brown trench coat over the top!
Isn't a perfect colour match always so satisfying? Well, the tan shade of one of my long-time favourite coats (very inspector clueso) is the exact same as the tan sections on this button front skirt. And the khaki section just so happened to perfectly match this khaki long sleeve top! I finished the look with black sock boots to match the black sections of the skirt, which metaphorically wrapped the outfit up in a neat little bow.
Extra extra read all about it! This newspaper print bodysuit was a great little bargain (something crazy like £2.50) and I love the fit and the black edging which frames it nicely. Worn with my brown cargo pants, black blazer and black strappy heels, it made for a great date night outfit!
For this outfit, I borrowed a handy little hack from fashioninflux (the best for fashion tips and tricks). If you're wearing a chunky or knitted jumper with something high waisted then obviously you can't easily tuck it in or you'll get a big bulky section that will look a little ridiculous. Instead of tucking it down, you tuck it up into the band of your bra so that you can still show off the trousers properly! And these trousers deserved to be showed off, as I just love the checked print and neutral colour. I stuck with the neutral colour in my coat too by adding this fur-trimmed primark beauty that has seen me very well through the years!
If I had to live in one item of clothing for the whole of winter then it would 100% be roll necks. I pretty much have one in every colour and I just think they add an air of chicness to any outfit. This time, I wore a cream one with this multi-coloured, multi-textured skirt (that pulls every great thing about this season into one) and then added chunky boots. No great outfit is complete without a great bag, so I added my Gucci loved one to finish off!
