It's not me it's new

I hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas! It feels very strange not to be posting a fully festive Christmas blog post but there's obviously been considerably less to write about this year. While I still had an amazing time with my family, I would normally have Christmas market trips, festive meals out and trips to the ice bar to tell you all about. No one needs to know how many pigs in blankets I've eaten over the last few days or that the most productive thing I've done is to try and finish my Gossip Girl rewatch before it gets taken off Netflix at the end of the year (I'm currently halfway through season 5 so it's going to be a squeeze). Anyway, instead, I figured I would show you a few new bits that arrived before Christmas. Not quite enough items for a whole haul, but certainly enough to show you! I thought I'd do more of a first try-on/impressions style post because you guys liked that last time. You can see how unplanned it was because I still had a towel on my head when I started!

Okay so first up we have this lilac dogtooth statement top. I'm loving this gigantic collar trend (probably a bit of a love/hate/marmite debate) and really wanted one of the tops and couldn't have found a more perfect one than this lilac dogtooth one. With puffy statement sleeves to boot, it rolls my favourite print and my colour-of-the-moment into one.

You can see the front of these flared trousers in the previous photo but the main reason I bought these was because of this cool lace panel down the sides! I already have a couple of flared/wide leg trousers and they're so comfy and flattering and stylish and I'd highly recommend having at least one pair in your wardrobe. This pair offer something slightly jazzier and I think they'll look lovely with a bodysuit and heels.

This one was a little more tony the tiger than I was expecting. From the photo it looked like a burnt orange rather than an out-and-out bright one so I'm not sure on this one! Colour aside, I do love the padded shoulders and it fits well. It was only a bargain so I may keep it and test my fashion skills to see if I can make it work.

This one is probably my favourite new top of this post! I've always loved prints like this - chain print, bandana print? Whatever you'd call it, I think this shirt with its Fendi-like cuffs and collar looks very designer inspired and it fits lovely too! Plus you can never have too many printed shirts that take you from desk to drinks (well, when I used to have a job and places to go to afterwards anyway).

I've spoken of my habit of screenshotting cool fashion stuff I see on social media and then shopping for it later and this outfit was one of those times! I love boucle and have wanted one of these pinafore braced skirts for ages! I already have a black boucle skirt and white boucle skirt so I'm excited to be mixing it up with a burgundy one. As for the top, I don't think you can ever have too many white t-shirts and I love the hand gesture print on this one.

We all know that fashion is cyclic and I've certainly been noticing some old loves popping back up again. In the early days of my blog, I used to wear nothing but black tights with shorts, top and boots/heels and that's something that I'm obsessed with right now too. So naturally, I felt like I needed some more autumnal/wintery shorts in my wardrobe and thought these were a great staple piece. They're tailored so not too tight and they're a lovely soft fabric. I love a scarf belt and having one that's actually designed for that purpose was definitely easier to tie! It doesn't strictly match this top but I wore them together to save an extra outfit change! I love the cape sleeves on this top and knowing how much I still love my white cape top, I feel like I should get a lot of wear out of this one too.

Something else I've been leaning towards more than usual this season is sweatshirts! I've already bought a couple of cute ones and then got a lovely new one from my brother for Christmas - this one, I liked because of the collar. I'm loving the big collar trend (see above) and this ticked the box of being a pretty unique colour too so I like that it's not like anything I already have in my wardrobe!

This outfit is doubtless one you've seen many times lately from influencers and MIC people but I'm never one to let popularity stop me from getting involved in a trend I love the look of. Sweater vests are probably something we'll look back on in a couple of years and cringe but right now, I'm loving them. This beige sweater vest dress is a wardrobe staple as far as I'm concerned and looks amazing with thigh high boots. I felt like my wardrobe was lacking a statement shoulder shirt (to go under sweater vests and to steal the spotlight on its own too) so I picked one of those up too to complete the look!

I very rarely do some online shopping without adding some accessories to the cart and I feel like these mesh socks will look really cool poking out of some chunky boots with bare legs.

And last but not least, also on the accessories front, we have some new bandanas! Whether you wear them round your neck, in your hair like a headband or as a belt, I think they can just set an outfit off. I bought this cute chain print twin pack and then a dalmatian print one too that I just couldn't resist!
