Deck the hauls
We all love a good haul don't we? And while tis the season to buy presents for other people, I've been nice and organised this year and have pretty much got everyone sorted already. So naturally, that leaves me with some time on my hands to treat myself instead! This shein haul is possibly my favourite one so far and I'm super happy with everything I got! Like I said in my Thanksgiving blog post, I'm feeling inspired on the fashion front right now so you can expect some more out-there outfits.
Tartan checks always give me Cher vibes (Cher Horowitz from Clueless, not the Cher) and this pinafore dress is a great easy way to channel those vibes without having to buy a matching set. Something I'm loving right now is the collared, almost rugby-style tops and so I added a simple white one to my wardrobe and finished this outfit with white heeled boots.
They're certainly the biggest trend of this season and in the love-hate debate, I stand firmly in the love camp when it comes to sweater vests. Naturally, when shopping for my first one, I had to choose something in dogtooth (my favourite print ever). This one is really nice quality and I think they're actually really practical because you can layer without bulking up your arms in your coat! Because they can be slightly grandadish though, I went with sassy vibes with the rest of my outfit to balance it out. I already have some leather coated jeans but I wanted some shinier leather pants like these!
Something else I've been wanting in my wardrobe for a while now is a statement blazer and so I thought I'd go hard or go home - and I went hard. This statement blazer is like magazine print in a pop art style and I'm obsessed with it. It would be easy to style really simply with just a white top and black jeans but I thought I'd really make the most of the colour palette by adding a few more! With the leather pants again, I added this dusty blue top (love the ruched fit) and then red court heels to put the 'pop' in pop art.
When it comes to simple styling, what could be simpler than a matching set? I've had my eye on this blazer-and-trouser set for the last couple of hauls so I took the plunge this time and ordered and oh my god I'm in love. The fit is absolutely dreamy, especially the way the blazer cinches in at the waist (even without the belt). The trousers are super comfy but fit more like leggings (so I probably wouldn't wear them with a short top) and I love the colour. For a night out, you could wear it with nothing underneath but for this occasion I layered a little black bustier bralet underneath (which I bought to wear layered over white shirts).
Something I always love in winter is a good old roll neck long sleeve top. They look classy, fitted and chic while keeping you toasty - it's not all that often that my outfits are both stylish and practical. So in my opinion, you can never have too many. I've got plenty of plain colour block ones so I branched out this time and invested in a printed one. And we all love an animal print don't we! Although I'm not 100% certain what animal this is supposed to be; dalmatian? snake? cow? Your guess is as good as mine. Something I'm sure we can all agree on though is that this skirt is super cute! While I love wearing wintery colours at this time of year (berry, mustard, tan), I also think it's nice to get wintery items in summery colours. So a cord skirt in a cute blush pink colour is a yes from me.
Proving already what a great purchase this skirt was, here we have it again! I did say that I was loving these rugby style tops so I also got one in black and white (which I just think will go with everything). The outfit was looking a bit too plain for my liking at that point though so I jazzed it up with a Dalmatian print belt which has a cool horsehair texture to boot.
Another trend I'm loving right now (but one that is not loving me so much) is hats! And when I say it's not loving me, I don't mean that I don't feel like hats suit me (I think they do) - I mean that I struggle to find ones that fit on my gigantic head. When I was a child, I used to have to buy adult hats and now I'm an adult I have to search for ones that fit and then eventually end up buying them from the menswear section(!). But I got lucky with this beret because it's a softer fit so it worked! I paired it with this gorgeous floral mesh bustier top and black jeans. I have a confession about the jeans though - they weren't from shein! They were from boohoo but I snuck them into this haul anyway (tehe).
A colour that I'm loving at the moment is orange but all I really have of it in my wardrobe at the moment is accessories. I thought I'd broaden that out into clothing! This c'est la vie top is a great way to do that, but I think I'll have to be careful how I style it to avoid looking like some kind of kids club host on holiday. I thought I managed it just fine on this occasion though with the help of my trusty dogtooth companion. This dogtooth blazer is my 1935282847th dogtooth piece and I love the boxy double breasted fit. I also added dogtooth shoes and then finished with this cute neon orange bag.
I never do a haul without expanding my tshirt collection and this time, I figured I had more than enough white tees (for now) so I chose a graphic black one instead. I think this audrey and marilyn one is so cute and I like the pop of blue and pink because I think it will open up the options for outfit pairing. Like with these blue jeans, which I'm just obsessed with. I thought they looked really cool online but I'm even more obsessed with them now they've arrived. I love the slogan stamps and the oversized fit - I used my handy belt loop hack again to make sure they were oversized on the leg but cinched in at the waist.
Clearly I'm feeling the French inspiration right now because not only have I gone with the beret but this outfit is giving me very French vibes too. I wore the jazzy statement jeans again but this time, instead of my belt loop hack, I cinched it in with a snake buckle belt. I added a black one shoulder top and then finished the look with a pop of colour through this silky mustard and orange scarf! Ooh la la...
