Weekend blues

And just like that another weekend is over! But luckily, I had one good enough to keep any monday blues at bay. No, the only blues in this blog post are the ones in my outfits, as I accidentally had a kind of theme in what I wore this weekend for girls night and date night.

Since Nottingham went into tier 2 of the new lockdown system, we had to make a swift change of plans for girls night. Luckily, none of us were put off by the cold so we bundled up for a night in the pub garden! In the first of my blue outfits, I went with a baby shade in this puff sleeve top with black jeans and white heeled boots. These boots are my latest obsession and I feel like they're going to appear in a lot of my autumn outfits! Because of the aforementioned weather predicament, I added a bit of warmth with this blue printed scarf and fur-lined aviator coat (a primark bargain). I also added this cute baby blue clutch that I've had for absolutely years and never gotten rid of, even though I barely ever use it (very unlike me - I'm generally ruthless in getting rid of stuff). But it just goes to show that sometimes it's better to err on the side of hoarding as it can come in handy!

And forgetting the cold weather, we had a lovely time! We had a nice little set-up next to an outdoor heater and we enjoyed pizza and plenty of prosecco. Well, on fizz friday, it would've been rude not, wouldn't it?

Okay so this bit isn't exactly part of my weekend plans but it was a nice little perk of my Saturday and since I was so happy with the items that arrived, I thought I'd link the pieces for you guys too. My latest obsession is trawling through the ASOS outlet section to hunt for bargains (mainly shoes). And it did not disappoint. Firstly, I got these heeled sandals with gold chain trim and they were £12.25 down from £35. I love the gold chain and think these will make an amazing statement shoe for a night out or with a really simple outfit. I also love this shape of heel that I'm seeing a lot at the moment, which is basically a stiletto but with a wider bottom. Second, I got these tall black croc boots which were only £18 down from £44.99!! My black thigh high boots are a favourite every A/W but this year, I wanted a slightly shorter option. Taller than an ankle or sock boot but shorter than a knee high. And these were perfect! I think the black croc effect is lovely and will go with everything and I like the sassy pointed style. Being happy with your online shopping order is guaranteed to make any day better!

In the second of my blue outfits of the weekend, I opted for an all-together brighter affair. Cobalt blue has always been a shade that I've loved but I've never had much of it in my wardrobe. When I bought this mesh cobalt crop top earlier this year, I loved it but realised I didn't have much that went with it. Cue, a pair of cobalt blue heels went straight in my basket. And hey presto, oven-ready-outfit. So I layered the mesh crop top over a white bandeau (because, you know, I didn't want to be indecent) and then added a pair of stone colour trousers. I love the length of this pair and the fact that they're slightly cropped. I finished the look with white tory-burch-inspired bag that has a splash of blue that tied it into the outfit nicely.

Saturday night was date night and the days of spontaneity and seeing where the night might take you are long gone! So me and Ollie had our night scheduled down to the minute! First up was food at Mowgli, which I've been to a couple of times before and always think the food is amazing. It always feels like it's in a different class than other Indian restaurants and the dishes feel pretty unique. We went with fenugreek kissed fries (basically an Indian patatas bravas), gunpowder chicken and then a worker's lunch which was a surprise mix of 3 curries and 1 rice. Everything was amazing and the kissed fries in particular were a hot favourite.

And then it was time for drinks! I was in a cocktail kind of mood, so I ordered a fuschia wifey at revs before we went onto wax bar. Wax bar isn't one that I've ever been to (or actually spotted) before but having read good things online, I really wanted to try it. It's a little bit off the beaten path but it was a really nice venue with a good atmosphere and a great cocktail menu. They were 2 for £12 so I got 2 bumble bees, 2 pornstar martinis and then 2 rum bongos. We may have slightly panic-ordered when they called last orders so we ended up frantically trying to down our drinks at 9:59pm! And while date nights are much shorter these days, that doesn't make them any less amazing!
