September favourites
The turn of October feels very much like the official turn of autumn and having had no summer to speak of, I have to say I'm not feeling happy about it. Something I am happy about though, is the chance to share with you a few things I've been loving throughout September! I don't exactly do these kind of posts very often but I have a few good bits that I just had to tell you about.
Oh how I wish I could justify buying a Dyson Airwrap. That's basically where this purchase came from, because I wanted a hair tool that would create a really soft look. I have a waver, I have GHD straighteners (also used for curling) and I have curling tongs but I just wanted something that would give a natural body without too much perfected style. But £400 is rather expensive for a naturally-undone-do. Instead, I got this Remington air styler from Very, which comes with 4 different attachments and a cute little heat proof bag to store everything in. It claims to be more of a styler than I found it to be; it reckons the smallest attachment will give you tight curls but I tried all of them and they all just gave me a nice sleek blowdry. Which is perfect, because that's exactly what I wanted it for. But if you're looking for more of an actual styling tool I wouldn't recommend it. However, it dries my hair really nicely, is great to use (one-handed hair drying for the win) and I thought it was good value too. Verdict: great hair dryer, not so much hair styler.
Okay so let's pretend the plaster on my thumb isn't there (I jammed a pair of scissors into it - not my best move). But this is something that I have been waiting to be invented my whole life. The "bracelet buddy" is a cool little tool that's designed to make it easier to do up your own bracelets! Just grip the chain side of it in the bracelet buddy, wrap the bracelet round your wrist and then you can fasten the clasp without it slipping or falling. It's a very first-world problem but one that I was genuinely worried about when I bought a house on my own (that and doing up my own tricky dresses) but then fate would have it that I got with my boyfriend 2 days later, so the bracelet/dress issue ended up being less of a problem than I envisioned. Alas, I digress. Verdict: everyone needs a bracelet buddy in their life.
This one is slightly out of place in this post but I couldn't not mention them because honestly they're amazing. I love Shreddies anyway but these strawberries and cream edition are amazing! I got them from Aldi and I'm just hoping that 'limited edition' doesn't translate to 'gone by the time you next look for them'.
If you had told the Jenni of a year ago that I'd be a frequent trainers wearer now, I wouldn't have believed you. But lockdown has some interesting knock-on effects and here we are. And while I love my gucci-dupe trainers and my blush pink puma's, I wanted some super neutral white ones that would go with everything. So I was searching for the perfect Stan Smith pair. I did find a Bellista pair I loved on ASOS but they were £75 and I didn't want to spend that much so I looked elsewhere. Annoyingly, that pair are now down to £41.20 and they still have my size (lord give me the strength not to indulge). Anyway, after a lot of looking, I fell in love with this pair from JD. I love the embossed print and the camel coloured tab on the back; enough detail to make them interesting but plain and simple enough to be the wardrobe staple I was after. The perfect all-rounders. My exact pair have now gone out of stock but I've linked the pink version which are very similar.

I'm sure loads of other people do this too, but when you get served on ad instagram, who else screenshots it with the intention of looking for the item later? I generally wouldn't buy from an obscure or small instagram shop and prefer to go for bigger, safer brands that I know. So if I see something I like, I'll see if anyone else is selling it too. However, sometimes I end up screenshotting and then doing nothing with them because I forget! So I went and sorted through my screenshots not long ago and found that I'd saved an advert for this cute constellation bag twice (a sure sign my heart really desires it). After a quick google, I found one place selling it for £40, one place selling it for £20 and the same bag on Amazon for £13. I normally object to putting any money into Jeff Bezos pocket and prefer eBay over amazon but eBay let me down on this occasion and didn't have it! It did take ages to come (from China I'm guessing) but I love it so much! I love all things constellation and zodiac and things like that so this bag is a proper bit of me. It's a hard shell with a clam-style open and close and it has a gold chain with it so it can either be a clutch or a side bag. They did a few colours but I opted for black because it's already a statement style and I wanted to make sure it would go with things. Verdict: I'm so glad I finally got round to buying it.

These were another item that made it out of my screenshot folder and into my shopping bag. I had a little difficulty finding these but thankfully, the instagram advert had helpfully included the name 'helping hand earrings' which helped me to find them elsewhere. They were $11.99 so about £10 and while they also took a long time to arrive, I honestly love them. They feel really nice quality and I just think it's such a cute design. I love me a good pair of statement earrings. Verdict: well worth the searching and waiting!
