Florals for autumn? Groundbreaking
I'm not someone who believes that fashion should be restrictive. For example, I'm definitely not one of those people who has a "summer wardrobe" and a "winter wardrobe" that get swapped out as the seasons change. As handy as that sounds in terms of storage (I could do with the ability to vacuum pack half my wardrobe and put the stuff out the way for 6 months), I think that clothes should be worn and seen and adored, no matter what the weather is like. And I'm certainly not going to hide all my favourite floral pieces away for the winter months! Here's how I'm styling florals in autumn...
This year, I've fallen into a pretty nice schedule of doing one big Shein haul for each season. So I did a spring haul in February, a summer haul in June and my autumn haul has the current order status of "shipped" (blog post to come, naturally). This floral mesh top was part of my summer haul and I love the caged bustier style. However, we haven't had as much of a summer as any of us would've liked, so this baby hasn't had too many outings. Obviously I'm not going to let the season stop me from wearing it now we're allowed out again! I paired it with this black denim skirt, as I just think the lace trim gives a darker edge that's perfect for this time of year, and then I finished with black sock boots.
This skirt is another floral piece that I wear year-round and I think the green colour palette is especially nice for this time of year, since it works so well with neutrals and browns. I added this beige topshop top (which is just the loveliest fabric) and then layered a little black cardigan (ASOS) over the top for added warmth! I did what I usually do when it comes to shoes and matched the bottom to the top by adding these beige suede boots (simmi shoes). When it comes to clothes, I tend to value quantity over quality. I'd rather have 10 cheaper pieces to give me variety and outfit options, rather than 1 really great quality piece. But that doesn't mean that I don't have some timeless classics in my wardrobe where I opted for quality instead. Like this mac, which I absolutely love and it remains one of my favourites. It was one of my most expensive coats at £99 from river island, but I love the chocolate brown colour with black leather trim. The fit is insane and I really can tell the difference between the fit and cut of this coat versus my cheaper ones of a similar style. While I wouldn't pay through the nose for a top or a pair of jeans, there's definitely something to be said for investing in high quality coats and jackets!
