When two become one

You know the drill by now. Lockdown continues. Weekly date nights. Different cuisine each time. Explore the world without going anywhere. Rinse and repeat. The beady-eyed readers may notice that I didn't post much about last week's date night but worry not, I've combined it with the most recent one (because content was a little light on the ground on its own) to bring you 2 weeks of outfits, drinks, makeup and food!

It was a bit of a lazy one on the makeup front because I'd already worn daytime makeup and couldn't be bothered to start from scratch so I just added lashes (if you know you know). I actually used the Lorac unzipped palette which is my current daily fave as it has a few different dark matte tones for the crease/contour and then plenty of buttery shimmer tones for the lid/highlight. The lashes I added were Ardell demi-whispies and then I went with Derriere lipstick by MAC and this cute ear cuff. Or should I say fabulous ear cuff.

It was nice weather last weekend so I went with a fairly summery number: bright green tailored shorts, white ruffle bodysuit and gold heels. If you've been paying attention, you'll know it's a rare occasion that I wear any outfit without a hint of spice so I finished with this snake print belt.

Every week so far, we've scored a perfect 10 with the food. Whether it's been ordered in or made by us, we've had some really incredible meals. So it was hardly surprising that we were bound to get a bit of a duff deal eventually and it took us until week 12 to hit that. It was certainly unsuprising to me that the duff deal was the week we did American cuisine! We ordered from Red Dog Saloon on deliveroo and after waiting for it for about half an hour, the order was totally wrong. Half of it was missing, the fries were wrong and we ended up with a random milkshake that we didn't order? We obviously weren't total karens about it, but it's not like it was just a bit wrong, so we then had to wait for them to deliver the missing stuff and by then everything was getting a bit cold and had to be reheated. And Ollie doesn't deal well with hunger so we'd had to eat the pork tacos as a starter to keep him going (they were actually the best bit). The other stuff we'd ordered was fried chicken, beef brisket, mac and cheese, fries (we ordered normal but got loaded and made do with them) and onion rings. Overall, everything was nice enough but very average. Definitely not a patch on food we've had on other weeks! Luckily we had a giant box of 10/10 cocktail to keep us company during the wait for the food. I love these passionfruit martinis (from tesco) and it looked even better in my gold rimmed saucer glasses (tk maxx).

To make up for the lack of makeup vibes from last weeks date night, I have a few bits to show you from this weeks. Firstly, with the warmer weather, I was on the hunt for a tinted moisturiser. I used to use one when I was at school and first stopped wearing foundation (goodbye dream matte mousse, hello No7), and I really wanted a good all round day product that contained SPF, was a moisturiser, and evened my skin tone a little. After a quick comparison, I went with the garnier BB cream in medium. It's SPF15 and does exactly what I wanted it for! It still has that no-makeup look and feel but just with a nice dewy, blurred effect. It was also a great base for this highlighting duo. I added a few dabs of the Delilah liquid highlighter with a little Becca champagne pop over the top for that perfect golden glow. Eyeshadow wise, it was sunset vibes all over the place. I used my Kylie cosmetics burgundy palette without much method - I basically just kept building and blending until I was happy! The centre, top right and top middle shades for my crease and outer corners, and then top left and middle left for my lid and inner corners. Add mega fluttery long lashes and YSL rouge volupte lipstick and that's basically it. Oh and beachy waves using my favourite sex-toy-looking triple hair waver.

The dress was one that I've been excited about ever since I first saw it on an instagram advert (I've just gone back and checked the screenshot and it was from the beginning of May). It was from Zaful, which is a website I haven't used before so wasn't sure what to expect quality wise but it's lovely and I'm obsessed with the angel/cherub print (or 'naked lady print' as my grandma described it). It does have a pull-tie at the side so you can make it asymmetric but I found it highly unflattering when I tried that so left it as it was, and added nude strappy heels.

You might think that we'd be running out of cuisines by week 13 but you'd be wrong. This weekend, we tried a new one and went with Lebanese! There were quite a few nice sounding Middle Eastern options on deliveroo actually but some sounded quite close to the Greek dishes we had only a couple of weeks ago so we settled on a Lebanese restaurant in Sherwood called Ana bedouin in the end. That's the nice thing about at-home date nights too - you're not put off by the location of a restaurant or its vibe. Some restaurants, I wouldn't choose for an in-real-life date night if it was too casual, or somewhere one of us needed to drive to, or a place with no bars nearby to go to afterwards. Whereas on deliveroo, it's only the food (and the hygiene rating, naturally) that influences the decision. Hence, we ended up trying something completely new! They did a mixed meat platter with a little bit of everything to share which we thought was a good option for somewhere we hadn't tried before and didn't know what was good. It came on a bed of rice with pitta, sauces and salad, then we got a portion of chips and some falafel on the side too. As usual, we overestimated how much food we needed, as the meat platter was gigantic. But it was an excellent shout and everything was literally incredible. And while the food and pink champagne may not be a classic combination, it certainly went down a treat.
