Roundup of random lockdown purchases
Like most other people across the country (and probably the world), I am currently in a never ending cycle of expecting a delivery in 3-5 days while simultaneously receiving an order that I forgot purchasing. And yet still, I'm spending so much less than normal that it makes me a little concerned as to how much I normally spending on drinking and eating out. I mean, this whole coronavirus pandemic feels like a very extreme way for the universe to force me to save money. And while I'm managing to save, I'm still managing to order a hell of lot of random things that I normally either wouldn't want to waste money on or wouldn't have got round to ordering. A lot of these are beauty related purchases (pending in next weeks blog post) but for the truly weird and wonderful, I compiled a little list for you (you're welcome).
Firstly, I wanted a new toothbrush because I didn't like the small round head on my current electric one and wanted a longer style. I didn't want a top-of-the-range expensive one, but I read up on the Fairywill brand and there's a lot of people saying it measures up to the bigger brands but is more cost effective. I went for the pink and gold style (naturally) and have been pretty happy with it. Long lasting power, a variety of modes and just the bristle style I wanted. Although, massive black mark to Santa for their design/marketing team as anyone who designs their packaging in the default Ariel font is seriously lazy in my view (and it's an eye sore). Other than that, I'd highly recommend for only £16.

These are something that I see advertised all the time (especially on Pinterest) and always think they look so useful and cool but then I just forget about them until I see them again. Well, with time on my hands, I finally got round to seeking them out and I have to say they're very useful. Poaching eggs is easy if you're making one. A little harder if you're making 2. But what if you want to make 2 each for 2 people and you don't want to have to use every pot and pan in the cupboard? These little egg poachers keep them nicely separate and are a fairly no-fuss way to do them. Although, it took a while on the first attempt to realise you do still need to submerge them in the water to get a good runny poach (otherwise it cooks the bottom but the top stays raw). I did hope they'd make clean-up easier and they do for the most part (pan wise) although the poachers themselves are a nightmare to clean. Overall though I'd still recommend getting a few.

When I did a cheese and wine night over Christmas, it was the first one I'd done since moving out and realised I didn't have any nice big boards of my own (all sadly property of my mum and dad and therefore left behind). I have a lot of nice small serving platters and things like that, but no one big serving board ideal for this kind of thing. So I had a look on my favourite trusty site (eBay) and I was so excited to discover this one. A classic square wooden cheese board (decent sized) WITH a pull out knife drawer, complete with knife set! Needless to say I bought it immediately and have already used it for last weeks date night (see it in action here).

I'm like the little mermaid when it comes to trinket dishes and cute storage bits and pieces. Wouldn't you think my collections complete? Well, not quite. My long dangly earrings have lived on my dreamer stand for a while, but every other pair of earrings I own have long since been chucked in this glass mirrored box (which I love, btw). Not only does this cause a nightmare when trying to look for two matching ones, but it can also make you forget about the little ones when they're constantly hidden amongst the louder ones. So I really wanted a compartmental jewellery box so they would all be laid out nicely, but I didn't want a clear acrylic one (which is what most of the eBay ones are like). I did find a couple of cute gold and glass ones, but they didn't have enough compartments for my liking and were pretty expensive (I'm talking like £40). Eventually, I found this bad boy which was only £14 plus delivery from John Lewis. It's navy croc leather (so it fits nicely with my pink and navy bedroom colour scheme) with pale velvet interior and all the compartments are just a nice size, comfortably fitting either one pair of bigger earrings, or 2 pairs of small stud earrings. So with that all very satisfyingly arranged, that left my glass and mirror trinket box for just the big statement earrings. Although, for someone with as many earrings as I have, I'm considering buying another of these trinket trays already. Which would work perfectly as they're designed to be stacked! Isn't it nice when things work out...
