Fromage et vin avec mon amour
This week, on mine and Ollie's tour-of-the-world-from-home, we sprinkled a little French into the mix. I mean, we had Italian prosecco, Mexican cheddar, Chilean wine, Spanish meat selection, English apples and Brazilian cashews. But the camembert is enough to make it French! And technically (and also perhaps surprisingly), sausage rolls originated in France too. And I certainly had fun with the French theme too.
This week's palette-in-the-spotlight was the Zoeva Cocoa Blend palette, which I remember everyone suddenly went mad on at the same time. I don't typically use it very much as it only contains shades which are all warm neutrals, but for this weeks look, that was exactly what I was after. Plus, the shadows are lovely and buttery and blendable. I started with a little substitute for love through the crease and then darkened it with freshly toasted, and continued building that shade until it was the desired darkness (I also took it along my lower lash line). I then darkened the corners (lid and lower lash line) with beans are white, before pressing pure ganache onto the lid. I made sure to leave a tiny gap in the innermost corner and then added gold highlighter there, taking it round my tear duct too. I added mega big fluttery lashes and velvet teddy lipstick to finish. I also pinned one side of my hair back with a pearl clip and added face outline earrings.
The reason I'd gone with fairly neutral makeup is because I'd already decided on my outfit and it was a bright one! This mesh shirt was part of my latest shein haul that arrived not long before lockdown began so most of it has gone horribly unseen and unappreciated. I love the bell sleeves and think the dotty mesh fabric looks so cool with the flower motifs. I could've paired it with something simple/plain but I thought I'd stick with the red and added these ruffled shorts. I finished with white mule heels (for all the walking around the house) and a white bandeau underneath (to, you know, protect my modesty).
Everyone who knows me will know that 'modesty' is far from my middle name so I won't even pretend not to be both proud and impressed by this beautiful spread I put together. I love a good cheese and wine night, and personally don't think that one is complete without a baked camembert. Normally, I do this in a bread bowl but I baked it on its lonesome this time in a bid not to go into a bread coma after 5 minutes. I also did a cheese and meat board consisting of various mini cheeses (full size blocks are way too much for 2 people), deli meats, chilli flatbread crackers, green grapes, sliced apple, cashew nuts and sausage rolls. Plus, how cool is my new cheese board? It has a slide out drawer containing cheese knives! More on that to come in a blog post I've currently drafted with the title "random shit I've bought during lockdown". It's safe to say, that me and Ollie had some weird dreams after destroying all of this lot!
