4,689 miles from India
From the completely original and not-at-all-stolen blog post title, you might assume that this weeks date night food was ordered from 4550 miles from Delhi. But actually, my copycat-ness is even worse because the food's not even from there! It was however, amazing and I had another fun session getting ready.
Right so, giving another of my eyeshadow palettes a moment in the lime light, I reached for a bargain one this week. Revolution is a brand that I love and have loved for a long time and while my go-to is the Soph palette, I went with their Reloaded palette this time. I can't actually remember ordering this one so I'm assuming it was one of their promotions where they give you a free one if you spend enough, but it was probably only £6. I can't say the quality is quite on par with the Soph palette (the shadows don't blend too well and aren't that pigmented) but it has a lot of nice shades with good variety (my number one when choosing a palette). Annoyingly, they haven't named the shades which makes a little non-video tutorial all the more hard, but basically I used the middle-top-row green, the far-left-middle-row dark green and the stand out shimmer (4th one along in the middle row). It was a very simple makeup look too; light green through the crease, dark green to deepen it (and along the lower lash line) and then shimmer pressed onto the lid. I could've left it there of course but my main angle with this makeup look was that I wanted a smudgy, shadow liner look. So I used this little liner pot in the shade bronze and dragged long wings out using an angled brush. I didn't want a defined flick like with a black liner pen, so I just kept going with the brush until it was the desired level of smudginess (apparently I'm just inventing words now). Then I added fanned lashes and Captive lipstick by MAC. The hair was also a bit different than normal as I used my waving tool, which is a great little eBay purchase that looks a lot like a triple-headed sex toy.
The reason I went for a green/gold eye makeup look was because I'd already decided on my outfit for the evening and it's this slinky bodycon dress. I love dresses in this fabric and I love the twisted cut-out neckline on this one (I think when I bought it, the model was wearing it as it is but I'd never wear it without a bralet underneath). I finished the look with strappy black heels, big (heavy) gold earrings and a glass of prosecco. The perfect accessory!
Date night called for the fancy crockery (from George at Asda) which very satisfyingly matches the cushions, and we did a great job of completely filling the tablet with food again. Contrary to what the blog post title may suggest, we actually ordered from Anoki, which just seems like a cut above a lot of other Indian restaurants (it's a fine dining place so not a greasy takeaway style). We (over) ordered: a mixed grill and chilli fish starters, and then desi lamb, chicken jalfrezi, paneer makhani, pilau rice and garlic naan. Everything was amazing and I'm both proud and embarassed to say that we did a great job of nearly finishing it all between the two of us. I wonder where next week's date night will take us...
