She's back with a shein haul
And now I feel like I can breathe again. I'm not even overreacting when I say that it feels like forever since I shopped for clothes. Because of buying my house, the last year's worth of money has pretty much been spent on buying it, paying for it and decorating it. And going on countless holidays of course, but that's like essential for my health? But all the house money has meant that there's not been much left for clothes and so aside from the odd event dress or pair of shoes, I've actually not shopped for clothes (properly) in like a year! But as Spring starts approaching, I felt like it was finally time for a wardrobe refresh (although it looks more and more like we'll all be spending the Spring quarantined at home anyway). Obviously I turned straight to my favourite, Shein, where I got £250 worth of stuff with £50 knocked off and I love everything! For reference, I'm a standard size 10 and got a size M in everything.
First up we have this tunic dress which is the most gorgeous miniature leopard print. I love the neutral tones and it's a lovely light fabric - perfect for transitioning between winter and spring (layers etc). It looks nice enough when worn loose but I personally think it looks ten times better when cinched in with a belt. I kept things simple here with black belt and black heeled boots.
Notch Neck All Over Print Tunic Dress £13.49
For work, I like to have lots of tailored trouser options and although I have pretty much every colour already, they can begin to feel tired when you've had them a while. So I freshened up my collection with this tan pair of trousers that are somewhere between a tailored trouser and a cargo pant; straight leg but with side pockets and elasticated fit on the back. I also wanted a couple of new bodysuits (because I need more jeans-and-a-nice-top options) and fell in love with this ruffled one. White goes with everything, it has a cute dropped back and a few little buttons climbing up the front. I paired the outfit with J'adore belt and white stiletto court heels.
SHEIN O-ring Belted Flap Pocket Side Rolled Hem Trousers £9.49
Ruffle Trim Open Back Bodysuit £10.99
Same trousers again but this time worked into more of an edgy/casual outfit. Swapping the court heels for a pair of gold strappy ones, I layered this blue mesh top over a little white bandeau. I love cobalt blue and definitely don't have enough of it in my wardrobe, and I thought this mesh top would be a great night out option. The drawstring ties are weirdly long (like down-to-the-floor long) but I managed to make it work by tying them in a bow and them tying another bow using all the pieces.
SHEIN Drawstring Front Mesh Crop Top £4.99
Of all the outfits I created, this may just be my favourite. Adding a mix of textures and very slight splash of colour, I'm obsessed with this very Blair Waldorf ensemble. I love boucle because I think it's such a low maintenance way to look expensive and put together. I have a black boucle skirt and wear it all the time so I thought I'd expand my collection with a white version (with cute pearl buttons down the front). I also love mesh, but most of my mesh items are t-shirts or bodysuits so I thought this mesh shirt would be really cool, especially with like some bright red trousers. The way that the sleeves slightly balloon at the bottom is my favourite detail! Because I'd kept this outfit all white, I matched the shoes to the flowers with some bright red pumps.
Pearls Button Front Tweed Mini Skirt £13.99
Floral Embroidery Sheer Dobby Mesh Blouse Without Bra £7.99
I thought it'd also be nice to show that boucle doesn't have to be worn á la the royal family - it can be dressed down too. I personally don't think you can ever have too many different black tops, and I consider it my personal mission to own one in every style imaginable. So I added this black dotty mesh one to my collection, complete with cute sweetheart neckline.
SHEIN Dobby Mesh Shoulder Fitted Top £7.99
Not one you'd expect from me right? I'm well known among my friendship group (and further afield) for being incapable of dressing down and everyone knows that my idea of causal is a pair of heels and the family pearls. But I did feel like I wanted some more loungewear in my wardrobe for those lazy sundays and where better to get them than on a website where everything is a bargain? The grey joggers fit perfectly and are really comfortable and I like the c'est la vie slogan on this hoodie (which is a dreamy colour and a dirty bargain).
SHEIN Letter Graphic Drop Shoulder Raw Hem Crop Hoodie £3.49
Patch Detail Jogger Trousers £10.99
One of the trends that I've been loving the most lately is the puffed sleeve trend. I think it looks so chic and stylish and is a great way to make your waist look smaller at the same time. So obviously, I wasn't about to do a haul without buying one (or two). I think white tops go with everything and I chose white over black with Spring in mind. I love the fit so much and it's a nice fabric too. For this outfit, I paired it with a pair of trousers that I bought for holidays. Definitely for my safari holiday, but also for airport outfits and warm-but-not-hot-days as they're a lovely thin fabric and super comfy.
SHEIN Puff Sleeve Square Neck Fitted Top £7.99
All Over Print Tie Front Straight Leg Trousers £8.99
Already proving my point that this puff sleeve top will go with everything, I put it together as part of this pretty different, very pinterest outfit. I've always loved leather shorts but the only pair I have in my wardrobe are very short and very tight (I've had them since way back in the peak of my rock city days) so they're more high class hooker than they are high fashion. So with this new pair, I went with a much looser, longer and more tailored fit in a warm tan (instead of black). They came with a tie belt but it's a bit bulky and awkward so I'd probably add a normal belt instead. But something I definitely would wear them with is these gucci-esque tights. The only item not from Shein, I got these babies from missy empire (although boohoo do them too).
Self Tie Slant Pocket PU Leather Shorts £13.49
Reeya Black Patterned Tights £8
Tights so cool I just had to add them into 2 outfits. This time as part of more of a grungy/casual one, with printed tee and dark tones. Leather shorts weren't the only kind that I wanted more of in my wardrobe; most of my other shorts are also part of my 19 year old self's clubbing wardrobe and so I wanted more pairs that I could wear in the day (and you know, in places I need to look my 23 year old self). I thought this grey, lightly checked pair would be great for work and play and I like that they can be worn with a belt too. Another trend that I'm obsessed with (it's hard to explain why) but I love angel and cherub print tees. I already have a 'you can't hang with us' one (funnily enough, I'm wearing it right now) but that's more of an oversized style so I couldn't resist getting this cropped tee version too.
SHEIN Zipper Side Fold Pleated Plaid Shorts £5.99
Angel Print Crop Tee £7.99
I told you I might've got one OR TWO of these tops and with the second one, I went a slightly different direction than I normally would have. I don't think I actually own anything in a baby blue but I'm really feeling it going into the new season and given that this top was only £6.99, I thought it was a great opportunity to start introducing the colour in to my wardrobe. Already showing that these shorts will be easy to style, I finished the look with black sock boots.
SHEIN Square Neck Puff Sleeve Top £6.99
This top is one that I spotted on Shein months ago and I nearly bought it on one of my last big hauls (like literally a year ago) but given that the total cart value was already up to about £200, I decided to leave it until next time. Back then, I hadn't anticipated how long away 'next time' was but seeing that it was still in stock in my size, I took it as a sign that I just had to have it. I feel like it's going to be a great one to throw on with jeans or trousers for work for an easy but non-boring look. Another item that will be great to throw on is these trousers and out of everything I ordered, these are probably my biggest and most pleasant surprise. I'm obsessed with my wide leg slinky trousers (missguided) and wear them all the time; dressed up, dressed down and for lounging around. So I thought the flared leg version would be an equally good edition but I never thought they'd fit as amazingly as they do. Perfect level of hugging of bum, hips and thighs and they sway so satisfyingly around the legs. They have an elasticated waistband which I don't personally like to see so I think I'll always wear them with longer tops or maybe tucked under. They're also quite long - perfect length on me (5 foot 8) in heels, but something worth bearing in mind if you like the look of them and are on the shorter side.
Frill Neck Pearl Embellished Ruffle Hem Top £11.49
Elastic Waist Solid Flare Leg Trousers £11.99
I was so shocked to see this bodysuit on sale for a measly £3.99. Granted it's a bit of a tricky colour (forest green) but one that I love and thought I could make work. So obviously I had to add it to my basket! Ignore the fact that I'm very obviously not wearing the right bra with it (amid shooting 14 outfits, there was no way I was faffing around with bra changes) but I love the fit and it's a really soft fabric. For jeans-and-a-nice-top outfits, I'm convinced this will be a new favourite. One that I wasn't fully convinced of when first trying it on was this skirt. I love the mixed panels of differing colours and fabrics but worried at first that it looked a bit weird. However, it's now grown on me and for only £8.49 it's worth hanging on to (not least because it isn't worth the hassle of returning it).
Another one shoulder style top up next but in a slightly more mermaidy green shade. Again, searching for more night out tops, I love the asymmetry and the way that this could easily be dressed up or down. I went with the latter example in this photo so that I could also showcase these fab new jeans! Tight black skinny jeans I have aplenty, and I also own dark blue skinnies and a pair of mega ripped blue denim ones. But the hole in my wardrobe was a pair of washed, high waisted vintage style ones. Slightly looser fitting on the legs but perfectly fitting on the bum and waist, I loved these even more than I expected to. I finished the relatively plain look with a jazzy snakeprint belt, which was also part of my haul.
Already making the most of my new favourite jeans, I also incorporated them into my final outfit. The puff sleeved trend was one I'd gone with subtly with the other two tops but I also wanted an all-out one and fell head-over-heels for this one. With sheer sleeves, pearl buttons and peter pan collar, I thought it was so chic and stylish that I just had to have it. Annoyingly they didn't have my size in stock so I risked down-sizing and was pleasantly surprised to find that it still fit perfectly.
SHEIN Peter-pan Collar Sheer Organza Yoke Blouse £10.49
I don't think I've ever ordered from Shein without a good healthy portion of the order being made up from the jewellery section. Before discovering Shein, I used to get most of my jewellery from primark, but that requires actually going shopping and ain't nobody got time fo' that. Luckily, Shein jewellery is just as cheap but even more beautiful and my main issue when deciding what to buy is trying to restrict myself from going too overboard. This time, I managed to whittle it down to a few pairs of earrings (I tried to pick varying styles that were really different from anything I already own), a couple of rings and then a multipack of rings. I love jewellery with zodiac, floral and moon and stars themes so you'll spot a couple of those here!
