Tis the season to be Jolly

Never did I think that mine and Ollie's couple nickname (what everyone at work calls us) would come in useful. But now it is quite literally the season to be Jolly, not least because there are so many cute coupley things to do during the festive season. First on our list was winter wonderland and the ice bar! You'll know from a few blog posts back, that I've already been to winter wonderland this year and thought they'd done it nicer than ever, so I was excited to go back. We only got there about 20 minutes before our ice bar booking though so we had a quick drink outside, under the heaters, instead of finding a spot in the cabin.

I went to Nottingham's ice bar last year and I've been to a few in other places too and I always love them. I just think they're a really cool (excuse the pun), different thing to do! They've done it even better this year, complete with an air hockey table made of ice, and an ice bobsleigh you can sit in. It's really not too badly priced either at £13 per person for an hour slot. That includes 2 drinks of your choosing from the menu (includes all the festive favourites) and you can upgrade to a premium ticket which includes an additional glass of prosecco. Which is definitely worth it because it's only an extra £3! So I had prosecco, followed by a blood orange shot (in an ice shot glass!), followed by a mulled wine (not in an ice glass, for obvious reasons). Although apparently I didn't do a good enough job of briefing Ollie; despite the clue being in the title, he was surprised by how cold it was!

We'd eaten dinner at mine before going out and we were planning on getting dessert at one of the Christmas market stalls (we're both sugar fiends). But by the time we got out, most of the market was closed so we just continued drinking instead. This time we did head into the log cabin bar (for a much-needed thaw), and had a couple more drinks. We weren't done with our dessert dream though, so we ordered deliveroo when we got back to mine; millionaires waffle, red velvet cookie dough and ferrero rocher rolled ice cream. It's a good job that along with being the season to be Jolly, it's also the season when you can write-off any food or alcohol choice with 'well, it's nearly Christmas'.
