Happy kissmas

Well, well, well. Look what we have here; a beauty blog post. And it's about time too, considering it's been so long since I last did one! Which is unsurprising really; my impressive makeup collection is enough to last a lifetime and with me spending all my money on home stuff, it's been a while since I bought any new makeup. But having noticed some gaps in my collection and wanting to take advantage of Black Friday offers, I've been treating myself to some newbies.

One of the gaps I really felt like needed filling was my lack of lipgloss. But when looking at a lot of my favourite brands, they all seemed pretty expensive for something I don't associate with being a high end product. So I turned to my trusted, cheap-as-chips favourite, Revolution. Obviously they didn't let me down. I got 3 lipglosses for only £2.40 each! The first is a rosy, peachy kind of shade (RBF 107), the second has a berry tint (white wedding 114) and the third is a rich, dark brown (gone rogue 124). They're all a lovely consistency and really pigmented; the problem with lipglosses I've bought previously is them not having enough of a colour to them so that was the main thing I was hoping for this time!

I also picked up some new lip cremes. I have loads of liquid lipsticks by various brands (Colourpop, Kat Von D, Kylie Cosmetics, ABH, Jeffrey Star, Gerard Cosmetics) and while I love them, a lot sit quite heavily and a little too matte for my liking. At this time of year, your lips need hydrating more than ever so I don't like wearing anything too drying. Luckily these Revolution ones are super lightweight and velvety (and only £3.20 each). I got shade Muse 126 (first) which is a really nice orange-toned mid shade. Fling 12 (second) was actually pretty similar but with a slightly rosier, pinker hue. I also wanted more of a bright and despite my extensive liquid lipstick collection, I didn't have a red (only in normal lipstick form) so I got Ruby 134 (third).

Obviously liquid lipsticks are great but for me, bullet lipsticks are still my favourite (you can't argue with the classics). I did get a lipstick from Revolution (third) but it was actually a replacement; I had Rebirth already but it snapped off (*cry*). Luckily, it was only a grand total of £2 to replace! I love the orange tones because I find that a lot of mid-browns always have a pink undertone running through and I like that this one doesn't have that at all. I also wanted to grow my no-pink-undertones collection and went hunting for the perfect yellow-based nude/brown. I ended up choosing a couple of MAC lipsticks (with Black Friday discount woo hoo); Impulsive (powder kiss finish) and Derriere (matte finish). Impulsive (first) is essentially a powder nude for me; so close to my natural lip colour and complexion that it works as an ideal no-lipstick-lipstick, while Derriere (second) is a lovely autumn/winter colour that isn't as strikingly dark as some of my other browns.
