A winning weekend
Oh wow, no blog post for 11 days and now writing my weekend blog post on a Wednesday? What's happened to me. Anyway, tardiness aside, it's been a great weekend and (as the title suggests), a winning one at that. As you may probably know by now, my company is the back of shirt sponsors for Nottingham Forest (wahay). Which not only means that I now get excited every time I see someone wearing one of the shirts, but it also means that we have two executive boxes for the season. While I've already been lucky enough to enjoy a day in one, my friends never have and were keen to get themselves an invite. Luckily my boss is very generous and seemingly all the other die-hard Forest fans were busy that weekend so me, Katie, Staci and Sian totted off to the city ground. Not only were we greeted with a lovely lunch and an open bar tab, but Forest sailed to a 3-0 victory! Which definitely made for a much better atmosphere than the last time I was there (when they lost). It seems that that UK Meds logo is bringing them some luck!
The generosity continued after the game because we all then went out to one of Joe's favourite restaurants, Anoki. I don't actually go for Indian that often but it's genuinely the best Indian food I've ever had, and my friends (who do eat Indian regularly) said exactly the same. We were all super stuffed full afterwards too so I'm surprised we made it out for drinks at all, but being the soldiers that we are, we went to Penny Lane for cocktails and games. I didn't do too well at all - unlike Staci and Katie who kept getting high scores and medals! I did do well on dressing casually for once though (seeing as a football game is not exactly a dressy occasion, even for me). I went with super ripped jeans (river island), black strappy t-shirt (missguided), black lace up heels (tiny ones) and then statement yellow zig zag bag.
Sunday certainly was a dressy occasion though as it was Ladies Day at Southwell Race Course. For someone who had never been to the races before about 6 months ago, I now seem to go every few weeks! This time though, it wasn't with work, it was with my friend Paige and her friends and family. I went with a black and white ensemble; lace v-neck dress (from boohoo), white heels, black jacket and of course, my white fascinator (which I've certainly gotten my money out of). The day was amazing and we had such a lovely time. We drank loads of wine (or, as my Monday self would tell you, too much wine), had a super cute picnic and were blessed with lovely weather (for the most part). I also bumped into my friend Harley (who I haven't seen since Ibiza!) and my old work friend, Joe and it was lovely to catch up with them both. And even though I wasn't attending this race day with my work, that didn't stop me from roping them in (well, my boss Joe) to help me pick some winners. And pick he did! One of his recommendations even managed to win at odds of 40/1, so I came out with a nice little £200 by the end of the day. Basically I ate amazing food and got drunk all weekend and by the end of it, had more money than I started with. A winning weekend indeed.
