The new all star Mr & Mrs

As someone who went to a wedding when they were exactly one week old and then never again up until the age of 21, I'm kind of making up for lost time now. My first ever wedding was the Indian one I went to, then I went to one last September, then my cousin got engaged (so we've got a family one to look forward to). And clearly the third weekend in May is a great one for a wedding because not only was it the first anniversary of Nisha & Raja AND Meghan & Prince Harry, but it was also time for my boss Mason to get married!

As evening guests, we arrived after the 'I do' part, which apparently all went amazingly. The wedding was at Prestwold Hall in Loughborough and the venue was absolutely beautiful; no finishing touch had been overlooked and everything was done to an absolute Pinterest-worthy standard (which Becky deserves a lot of credit for; for all of Mason's talents, organising a wedding was something he very much left to his now-wife). When I first received the wedding invitation, I obviously knew I needed a new outfit and bought this dress from ASOS at the same time as I bought the one for my first time at the races. It was a bargain at £18 down from £60 and was part of the Dolly & Delicious range, but I was never 100% sure on it. I love a good meshy, embroidered number but I would never normally go for a one-shoulder style and I wasn't sure about black for a wedding. But after routinely checking ASOS and finding nothing I liked better (most 'wedding guest' outfits seem to be pastel colours that do me no favours), I stuck to my guns. And I'm glad I did actually because I really liked the look on the day! I finished with black strappy heels and queen bee bag. But however much I liked my outfit, it was nothing compared to the bride's dress. Her daytime one was beautiful but her evening one was just something else!

Then after welcoming the new couple, it was time for all the cute stuff! Cutting the cake, the first dance (to Ed Sheeran) and then a firework display! The dancing lessons had clearly paid off and the firework display was done to a song (pretty sure, also Ed Sheeran) which worked well.

Then once all the super cute stuff was done, things got a little less civilised (probably helped by the open bar - my favourite kind). When we were outside watching the fireworks, me and Lisa noticed a horse statue and mentioned we'd have to get a photo on it later. Well, at this point, my other boss Joe (Mason's dad) bet me that I wouldn't manage to get on it and was willing to put his money where his mouth was and bet me £50 I wouldn't get on it unassisted. Well, if I wasn't already wanting to get on it, I certainly was after that (not for the money, but to prove him wrong for doubting me). Heels ditched and situation assessed (although it was getting cold at this point so the horse was covered in condensation, making it much harder than I expected), I earned my £50. Although, as you can see, I wasn't so sure about getting back down again and had a little helping hand from the best man instead. Several drinks and shots later, we were all dancing and making the most of the photo booth (which had some hilarious results), before finishing with an absolute classic as the last song; I've had the time of my life. There was a valiant effort to do the lift from the best man and mother of the groom before it was time to call it a night.

I've had a few work day/nights out now (most of them starting out at the Races), including one last weekend for Ladies Day. Well, as you can guess by the fact that there was no blog post about the event or the weekend, I behaved a little less than ladylike, got raging drunk and ended up a mess. Don't get me wrong - it was an amazing weekend. But I was pretty glad that I wasn't quite so drunk this week (last weekend, it took me until about Wednesday to fully recover from saturday, oops), and felt surprisingly okay on Sunday. Okay enough to go out for a lovely lunch, which was a great way to finish the weekend off.
