Pizza and prosecco party

Ask any white girl what her favourite food is and she'll probably say pizza (or chicken nuggets if she's mega fiat 500); ask her what her alcohol of choice is and it'll probably be prosecco. So what happens when you get 5 typical white girls together? You get a pizza and prosecco party, that's what. Well, a gathering, not a party - it was a school night after all. I've done a night like this before though and it went down really well so thought it was about time for another one!

While the girls were getting ready to arrive (strangely, for them) on time, I was making the dough and the sauce for our homemade pizzas. The recipe I used for the dough was this one, while the sauce was a mix of tomato puree, olive oil, tomato passata, garlic, italian herbs, and chilli flakes. The dough may seem like it takes ages but I used fast action yeast so it worked a treat in only like 45 minutes.

Of course, while we were waiting for the dough to rise, we managed to find a way to entertain ourselves (by drinking, obviously). It's not a pizza and prosecco party without prosecco so we opened a few bottles and soaked up every last drop of sunshine in the garden while we could (and as someone with a north-facing garden, this really is a drop).

Then it was pizza time! Last time we did a night like this, there was an unofficial competition between everyone's pizza but this time, it was well and truly on. We had deep pan crusts, heart-shaped pizzas and a variety of topping techniques, and while Staci won the inner circle vote, Sian was the clear favourite in the people's vote (because obviously, an important matter like this had to get put to instagram).
