I May have spent my bank holiday drinking
Don't you just love bank holiday season? I mean sure, it'd be nice to have one or two spread through the rest of the year but I have to admit that basically having the whole of April and May as 4 day weeks is pretty nice. Unfortunately, this bank holiday was not hot and sunny like the last one so it was all about the nights drinking rather than the days sunbathing. Which is obviously fine with me. I kicked things off on Saturday night with drinks in Beeston with Laura. Well, technically I kicked things off on Friday night by making it through a bottle of prosecco while watching 50 First Dates, but I didn't think that was photograph/blog worthy. So anyway, I always struggle to dress for casual drinks - I think the jeans-and-a-nice-top dress code is one of the trickiest. After a lot of umming and ahhing, I settled on leather jeans and black floral bardot top that gave a little nod to it nearly being summer. I haven't worn these shoes in absolutely ages but I need to stop forgetting about them because they're a chunky boot (so they're comfy) but with strappy style (so they're pretty). They're the best of both worlds really. So even if it took me a while to decide, my outfit ended up being just right for G&T's at mine, a bottle of wine at Bendigo and then G&T's at Berliner (where we ordered, heard last orders called while we were still at the bar and then immediately ordered an extra drink). I've never been to the Berliner and not seriously outstayed my welcome but me and Laura had a lovely night and a well-needed gossip.
The best part about bank holiday is undoubtedly that hungover sundays are not spent preparing for work the next day, but are spent topping your alcohol levels back up instead. Me and Katie had initially planned to go out day drinking but late as always, we actually made it out at about 7 in the end. Which is still super early for us! So I think we did pretty well. Another thing we did pretty well at was dressing in embarrassingly similar outfits. I went for burgundy bandage skirt, black strappy heels and black slogan tee and as you can see, it was like one mind and we looked like we'd done it on purpose. I also hate to admit it's not the first time we've done this and have actually gone out matching a couple of times before. We even both finished off with statement earrings and leather jackets!
I was seemingly more on it with my blog photos on Sunday night than I had been on Saturday (I didn't get any photos of the actual night). The great thing about going out on a Sunday is all the deals! We were on a mission to have a cheap night and we certainly managed that. We started with 2-for-1 cocktails at slug and lettuce, then had wine and 2-for-1 tapas at Revs de Cuba and then after checking out the new place, Penny Lane, we went for drinks in Wetherspoons where we only had to pay for the first one and then got the rest bought for us. To spend less than £25 on eating out and drinking for 7 hours is not too shabby.
