Snake me out

Some people may be hesitant to buy any proper statement shoes, on the basis that they may not go with much. Well I'm here to tell you that building outfits around a pair of statement shoes, instead of building outfits and completing them with a sensible pair of shoes, is much more fun. One of my personal favourite pairs is these snake print boots, which are super comfy, perfect for any season and work well with more of my wardrobe than you might expect.

Monochrome outfits are easily the simplest to add a statement pair of boots to. I normally reserve this white sweater dress as a Spring piece, to wear with heels and bare legs. But actually, I really liked it with black tights too; to say I haven't worn black tights for like two years, I've been wearing them non-stop this winter (not the same pair obvs). Another thing I've been wearing all season is this bargain aviator jacket which was only £20 from SheIn! It's not as much of a bargain as my other aviator jacket (which was only £15 from Primark) but it is perfect because the length and thickness make it work for evening, day, dressy outfits, casual ones, really cold weather and only so-so weather too. I'm never content with a full colourless outfit so I had to add a tiny splash with Retro lipstick (MAC).

Another way to work statement boots is in the exact opposite way; with all the colours and prints. These culottes were another bargain as they're a primark pair, but they're made of the nicest fabric (although it does get really static-y) and I love the rich purple colour. I think adding a printed top (stripes, spots, leopard etc) would've been a bit ambitious, even for a lover of clashing prints like me. So the print I went with was a big printed slogan, in the form of my more issues than vogue top which I have had and loved for years (I'm talking like 5 years). To tie the whole thing together, I added grey faux fur coat and purple toned lipstick, Whirl.
