Rust a girl standing in front of a door
Could I BE wearing any more autumnal colours? Despite the fact that it's practically Spring (can I get a woop woop), I'm still loving these falling-leaves-type of colours. Not quite fitting in to the neutral category, but not classing as a bright either, rust is an ideal colour for striking that balance.
This season I've really been loving layering and making the most of strappy dresses, playsuits and jumpsuits by shoving a long sleeve top underneath. This dress is a SheIn bargain and is perfect through winter because the fabric is nice and thick. I wore it over a black long sleeve top which is high neck without being roll neck, and then added my trusty thigh high boots. By itself, I think that's a bit plain so adding my rust trench coat (otherwise referred to as my detective coat) did the trick to add a splash of colour. As did the fact that I finished with a red lipstick.
Okay so side note, I really like my hair the way it is in these pictures and in the previous outfit but I really struggle to get it (and more importantly, keep it) like this. So if you have any tips on curled-but-not-curly hair then send them my way! Anyway, I love mixing prints. I always have done. And yet it's kind of an art in itself because it's so easy to do badly. I loved this outfit because it has that statement aspect of the printed boots and printed coat, but not too much else going on shape or colour wise. The foundations of the outfit are pretty simple; black roll neck top, rust a-line skirt and black tights (which I've avoided like the plague for the last 2 winters but am absolutely loving this year). The dalmatian print sock boots and camo print fur coat clash just the right amount (in my opinion, obvs) and I pulled the whole thing together with silver circle belt.
This outfit not only fits with the theme of this blog post, but it's also job-winning as it was the same outfit I wore to interview at the job I've been in nearly 2 months now! These rust coloured trousers are another SheIn steal and I love the peg leg style; shorter and less tapered at the bottom. The fabric and fit are gorgeous, although they are quite tricky on shoes. A boot or any shoe that comes high up doesn't really work, so I went with a can't-go-wrong court heel instead. I added square neck black top and finished with a Chanel lookalike blazer.
