2018? Completed it mate
It's very easy to sit around for the whole of the Christmas break, eating leftover chocolate in your pyjamas, picking at cling-filmed plates from the fridge and wondering what the hell the day is. However, I decided to spend the last few days of my year doing something a little more exciting. As you will have seen from my previous post, I had a pretty great year and a great year deserves a great end after all. Mum was back at work on Friday so I spent the day with the boys as me, my Dad and brother, Aidan went for a very energetic day. We started at Planet Bounce which, believe it or not, was my Dad's request. It's basically one giant bouncy castle that you run round for an hour and it was so much fun! There were slides, things to climb, a ball pit and an obstacle course. Although it did make us feel very old because we were all exhausted and clutching our chests after 10 minutes while all the young kids were still full of beans by the end. We timed it pretty well though because it wasn't very busy - I think it would ruin the fun if you couldn't go on anything because of over-crowding. Then we went to refuel at Tortilla - me and Aidan got quesadillas (one chicken and one pork and then split them) and they were amazing. Obviously for a day spent running around, I wasn't going to wear my usual high-heeled attire so I went with navy skinny jeans, white leather converse (which are almost older than I am), aviator jacket and black top with neon green slogan.
But the exhausting activities didn't end there, as we went to get involved with Aidan's biggest hobby; climbing. I've been bouldering with him once before and it's good fun - although it does seriously hurt your hands! I also still maintain that climbing shoes are more painful than any heels I've ever worn. Obviously after such an exerting day, we finished up with a few drinks at Bendigo (where we were also joined by my Grandma). You can't beat happy hour cocktails! And I've got my Dad very well trained as I asked him for a passion fruit mule and he ordered me a Long Island Iced Tea (with cranberry instead of coke yesss) instead, on the basis that it's stronger. Like father like daughter!
Of course I couldn't go out for just a few drinks on a Friday night though so after a quick turnaround, I was heading to town with Katie to meet Sophia and her friend Libby. Me and Katie were dressed exactly the same but opposite; her in a floaty printed skirt (mine) and tight black top and me in a tight black skirt and floaty printed top. And I finished with the replacement heels that I repurchased from eBay after the last pair tragically broke mid-night-out. We had a great night - when the shots are free it's hard not to!
Sunday was another day for me and the boys! It stemmed from when me and Dad went drifting a couple of months ago. Normally the boys do the adventure activities and me and mum do something girly (like a spa day or afternoon tea). But I love adventure stuff too! So when Dad finally realised this, he booked us an adventure day at a place in North Nottingham. Our weapons of choice were dirt buggies and then quad bikes and as you can see, it was very muddy! The ridiculously flattering overalls did little to protect you from the dirt and going straight through giant puddles was how we ended up looking like this by the end! It was an amazing day though and it was nice to finally be invited along!
And then was the long-awaited night of New Years Eve! Last year, we'd started at Be At One and then ended up in revs de cuba so we decided to see midnight in at Be At One this year. My uniform for NYE is like sanctity; a long sleeve sequin dress. Every year. Without fail. This year, I finally bought one that I'd had my eye on since last new years eve. I first saw it as a limited edition premium Boohoo one which had sold out and I found the same dress on a website called IVRose but the reviews weren't good and it was a random company in China so I decided not to risk it. However, after my positive experiences with SheIn (also in China), I decided to risk it. And it was worth it! I got it for £30 (instead of the £60 I'd originally seen it on Boohoo for) and it fit perfectly. I love green in winter and around Christmas time too. The panels underneath were a bit too revealing and low cut for my liking though so I added a little black bralet and then finished with black boots and black bag. I also did super glittery makeup and sparkly jewellery. Well if you can't be OTT at new years then when can you? We had an amazing night, drank cocktails and free wine, saw in the new year with champagne and confetti and then continued in to the early hours of 2019 in a bit of a drunken blur. My hangover on new years day wasn't as brutal as I expected either and today I had my first day at my new job. As far as first impressions go, 2019 is making a good one so far!
