A weekend of birthday knights out

Even though you will only ever see her referred to here as big Katie (again, she's not big but little Katie is little), her actual name is Katie Knight and this weekend was her birthday (hence the title)! So it's been a whole weekend of girls-just-wanna-have-fun. Starting on Friday night, I got dressed in black leather trousers and ruffled lip print blouse and headed to Katie's flat, armed with presents. A lot of people often comment on how extravagant me and the girls are with our gift-giving but I love that about us! I got Katie a prosecco scented candle, some gin flavour mixers and a Ted Baker jewellery set with a pair of earrings and necklace. As you can see, we all managed to have a fairly colour coordinated thing going on! Then after some prosecco at Katie's to start us off, we headed to the Cornmill to make the most of their fizz fridays offer (£10 bottles of prosecco, don't mind if I do). We also didn't want to have a massive meal (it's counter productive on the drinking front) so we got some starters to share instead and basically selected every dish with cheese on it, in it or around it. We went for a chicken sharer, nachos (not the best I've ever had, 4/10), camembert and halloumi fries (amazing, 9/10). Then we headed to the Berliner, stocked up on the drinks before last orders and then screamed Christmas songs at the top of our lungs until we were eventually kicked out so they could close up.

Then saturday was the main event and as we're now in December (the official festive season), we all went for dresses that were a bit more special. This dress is one of last year's but I only wore it once and love it just as much now. I matched my makeup to my outfit with blue tones blended through my crease and this amazing, intense silver on my lid, and then added lots of highlighter and Persistence lipstick. And by that point, you'd think I'd be done with the makeup right? Wrong, I've now managed to get myself appointed as Katie's regular makeup artist and have been invited round early the last 3 nights out on the basis of me doing her false lashes, contour and highlight. So basically girls, I'm apparently available for Christmas, birthday and party bookings!

Then once all the non-MUA's had arrived, we started off with a game of prosecco pong. We always think this will be a fabulous idea that will get us all drinking but actually, we can barely land the ball in the glass and we'd be quicker just drinking normally! Either way though it was a lot of fun and despite one good shot from me and a couple from Staci, it was Emma on the opposing team who was a real prosecco pong champion.

Once we were actually in town (after a ride in the party mini bus), we started in revs de cuba where we were treated to free shots and a confetti canon for Katie's birthday. Probably because of said shots, the night gets a little blurry from then on. My parents were out too so they bought me a drink, then we headed to Alto where I bumped into my friend Emma, then we walked over to Be at One where I bumped into my friend Joe. Something that's definitely not blurry though is the walk to Be at One, where my heel forsook me and I was left with only one good shoe. I'll never let it be said that I'm a quitter though and I certainly can't be kept from a good night out, so I continued like that for the next 3 hours. It's a good job I've had so much practice wearing heels, because I just walked and danced around as if the heel wasn't broken (basically on my tiptoes for the rest of the night). I may not have looked very elegant but I wasn't about to abandon Katie on her birthday night out! Even though it was a bit of a blur and I was feeling fragile the next day, I know we had an amazing time!
