Feast and transquility
This year, me and my family haven't been very 'on it' when it comes to birthday meals. We went for Grandma's birthday meal in August (her birthday is in February) and this weekend we went out for my Grandad's birthday meal in September (his birthday is in June). So we did badly, but not quite as badly as last time. It was a lovely meal though and we went to one of our old-time favourites, Amores. I'm definitely noticing the cold since I got back from holiday so I dressed pretty sensibly in grey trousers with satin stripes down the sides (missguided), purple floral satin top with flared sleeves (also missguided) and black strappy heels (simmi shoes). I added my grey chanel boybag, purple makeup and silver jewellery. The last few times I've been to Amores, I've got the steak but having had steak on the last night of our holiday, I thought I'd get something else. So I got stuffed peppers, followed by seabass in pomodoro sauce and then raspberry pavlova and it was all amazing!
Having been on holiday for 5 days and back at work for 1, I obviously really needed a break. So on sunday, me and mum went to Thoresby Hall in Newark for a spa day. We do them quite regularly and I always buy them on wowcher; they always have the best deals! I especially liked the look of the Thoresby hall one because it was a grand old building with pretty grounds and lots of facilities; pool, bubble pool, hydro pool, sauna, steam room, saunarium, aroma cave, ice cave, ice showers, tropical showers, heated loungers and foot spa. We had a lovely morning trying out all the various bits and then had a cup of tea outside in the conservatory (the weather had brightened up a bit by then so it was flooded with sunlight and blue skies). In fact, all the old stone walls made me feel like I was still in Dubrovnik! Included in our spa day ticket was a 2 course lunch which was in a super cute underground restaurant. They had a salad bar and a dessert bar and you could choose your main so I went with Seabass - again. All the food was lovely and we figured we couldn't be true ladies-who-lunch without a couple of cocktails so I got a pornstar martini and mum got a mojito. Then we spent the rest of the afternoon finishing our tour of all the different rooms and pools; my favourites were the hydro pool and the saunarium. The boys (Aidan, Dad and Grandad) have jetted off on holiday this week so it was nice to have a girls day and I would definitely put Thoresby Hall up there as one of the better spa days we've done.
