Culottes are the answer

I don't want to be one of those people who, after 22 years alive without a full summer of sun, end up moaning about it. So I won't. I love the heat and I'm glad it's stuck around for more than a millisecond for the first time ever. But one thing that's not ideal is trying to go to work in it. Being unemployed sounds seriously appealing for the first time ever. When I used to get the bus and tram for my old job, I didn't think there could be a hotter (or sweatier) mode of transport but it turns out I was wrong - a car that's been sat in the heat all day is much worse. And I've also gone from an air-conditioned office to a non-air-conditioned one and so keeping cool while trying to stay modest is proving difficult. And yet some genius invented culottes! They are the perfect hot weather workwear because they keep you classy-but-cool.

These culottes may actually be one of my favourite purchases of this year. I got them for a ridiculous price (£8 of something) in the January sales, originally bought for Morocco. I love the bird print and they fit really nicely despite being a size 6 (I'm a 10 but the back has an elasticated section of waistband). I wore them with this strappy white vest top and then kept to the black and white in strappy court heels.

My love affair with mustard yellow is seemingly far from over. I'm still obsessed with this crop top that I got from new look, and I love wearing it with these mustard heels (despite them being stupidly hard to walk in). Stripes are always a great choice and these culottes are some of my long-time faves.

I was heartbroken when the zip on this pair of culottes broke. But luckily I knew better than to throw them out because my mum is a genius and I knew she'd be able to fix them. And voila, they're good as new. I wore them with blush pink; oriental blossom print top and caged heels.
