National lipstick day
So you may not believe me when I say this but this outfit was a complete coincidence. National lipstick day is not exactly something I mark on my calendar so when I got dressed this morning, putting on this lip printed blouse was just a happy accident. Obviously it was chucking it down (fuming with all you people who have been moaning about the heat and wishing for rain) so I put jeans on for the first time in what feels like about 6 months. I wore navy high waisted jeans, white sandals and my gorgeous valentino red tote bag. And I obviously finished with red lipstick; Chili by MAC. And then I headed out for brunch! We went to all bar one and me and Laura went for polar opposites. I got a cold drink (vitamin C smoothie) and she got a hot one (hazelnut cappucino); I got a sweet breakfast (fruity pancake stack with bacon and blueberry yogurt) and she got a savoury one (vegetarian breakfast).
Then after brunch, I headed off to MAC with the aim of replacing my tragically empty Taupe lipstick (my favourite of ALL time). And when I walked in, I was given a National Lipstick Day voucher, which got you a free lipstick! Not a bad day to finally go out shopping rather than do it online eh? They had 11 free ones to choose from and unfortunately for me, none of them were matte or satin (the only finishes I normally go for). However, I thought a glossier finish would work quite nicely with a bright so I picked Morange; this lovely bright orange. Ironically (and annoyingly), Taupe wasn't in stock so if it weren't for the freebie, I would've had a wasted trip. Then I walked up to Superdrug to get hair dye and eyeshadow and I accidentally tripped and fell and 3 more lipsticks ended up in my basket??? I have no idea how that happened, so weird? I'm normally a bit skeptical about drugstore lipsticks because it's a product that I think cheapness really shows in. However, like with every single other one of their products, Revolution ones are amazing. I love the rose gold charlotte-tilbury-esque packaging and the shade I already own, Rebirth, is gorgeous so I got a couple more. I went for Triumph and Vintage which, as you can see are very very similar. One is very slightly more pinky in tone but they're both my absolute favourite type of shades; dark nude/browns. Revolution have also created a sub-brand called Revolution PRO which is slightly more upmarket with more luxurious feeling products. This lipstick in Unhinged is a lovely velvety matte finish and is a deep pink-purple colour. And it was still only £5! Maybe I'll mark National lipstick day in my calendar for next year after all...
