Let's blaze up

This time of year is a bit of a weird one. Some days it's 27 degrees and tanning-in-the-garden weather, other days it's chucking it down and make-sure-you-remember-an-umbrella weather. And with the obvious hair problems aside, what to wear? Well for ages I felt like there was a fundamental gap in my wardrobe and a couple of weeks ago I finally filled it, by buying a black blazer. This was only £17 from primark and I love the casual but tailored fit and the 3/4 sleeves. And so of course, it's my latest work-wardrobe essential.

Obviously I am always a fan of outfits that look like they've been lifted straight from Elle Woods' wardrobe and you can't beat a bit of pink. I'm not a massive fan of the fit of these trousers because they're not high waisted enough at the top or fitted enough at the bottom but I do love the colour and they're great for work. I added a strappy black t-shirt, black mule heels, and of course the black blazer, and then threw in a bit of extra pink for good measure by adding this feather print scarf.

In case you hadn't noticed, I'm obsessed with mustard yellow right now. I got these trousers from Forever 21 just before Morocco, and unlike the pink ones, they fit exactly how I like them to. Another recent yellow purchase is this flower print top, which I initially thought was black but actually I think it might be a very dark navy. Either way, I'm always a big fan of new look crop tops because they always fit so nicely, and I like the frill details on this one. I was already making quite a statement with the colours and prints so I finished simply, with black court heels and black blazer.

Being photo-bombed by my cat Bella is a more regular problem in my life than you might expect. Anyway, sometimes I prefer to go completely the other way and opt for a more monochrome look instead. These black culottes are a real favourite in my wardrobe and I'm gutted because I broke the zip when I last wore them so I'm going to have to figure out how to salvage them (tips welcome). I think this is a really great way to wear a blazer though; over a t-shirt. Smart meets casual. This t-shirt is from topshop and says 'no romance' on it and the floral embroidery matches the burgundy shoes that I finished with perfectly.
