Return of the mac

Back when I was at college, I used to wear the same coat or jacket, day-in-day-out for the whole season until it was time to buy a thicker/thinner one. But a long time ago, I realised that having a big coat collection was vital to having a good wardrobe and so it's an ever-growing collection that's usually made up of about 25 at any one time. However, I do go through phases of having my favourites, and this week it's been the return of the black mac.

I don't usually go for an all black outfit but this was built from the shoes up so I was pretty limited on my colour palette when mustard yellow was my starting point. Despite being acutely uncomfortable, they do perfectly match the flowers in this cute printed top (another of my new look bargains which are super cheap and boob-flattering) and then I decided to keep the rest of the outfit simple with black culottes and the classic black mac.

Culottes are basically my favourite thing because they're perfect for being smart for work while still being super fashionable and this pair are a recent purchase. I got them for Morocco and they were an absolute steal at £6 or something ridiculous in the boohoo sale. I love the bird print and they're a really thin fabric so they'll be nice as the weather gets hotter too. I added black pointy heeled boots (more because it was raining and I wanted my feet covered than anything else) and white crochet top, before again adding my black mac and then finishing with Whirl lipstick (by MAC, coincidentally).

It's one thing building your outfit from the shoes up but this time I went one step further and built it from the earrings down. I am obsessed with these orange-red curtain tassel earrings (an ebay bargain) and they match these heels perfectly. After adding Malice liquid lipstick by Kat Von D, I figured I already had enough colour for one day so I kept the rest all black errthang. Black jeans, black spotty wrap top and black mac.
