An eggscellent weekend
I've basically been living a life of leisure recently because after being on holiday for 5 days, I got home just in time for the 4 day weekend (very well planned, even if I do say so myself). And of course, I had to make the most of it, starting with a family day on Friday. Despite the rain, I decided to go with a spring outfit anyway in khaki high waisted trousers, pink floral crop top, nude pink heels (open toe didn't end up being the best idea though) and black floral coat. I went with fresh spring makeup too with nude pink shimmer eyeshadow and Mocha lipstick by MAC. So with my brother Aidan being back from uni, the 4 of us headed out for dinner and cocktails at Revolucion de Cuba, which we'd timed quite well because we got there just in time for happy hour (one of the better ones because you can mix and match). The food was absolutely amazing too (tapas is my fave) and then we headed to the cinema to watch Black Panther. I'm not normally massively in to superhero movies but the other 3 really wanted to see it and I had no alternative suggestion so that's what we went for and I actually really enjoyed it. It was a little confusing at the start because the opening scene isn't referenced again until right near the end, but it was amazingly acted and the costume and scenery departments had outdone themselves. It was also really good to see Michael B Jordan playing a villain, and Winston Duke's character was hilarious. It was easy to see why it's become the most successful superhero movie ever; it really was a great egg-sample of black eggs-cellence (the easter theme running deep). It really does make you question why hollywood movies still aren't very diverse either, despite segregation being abolished over 50 years ago, with most movies still having one or two "token" black cast members. Clearly it's not down to a lack of talent (as Black Panther proved) so it's time hollywood took a step in to 2018 me thinks.
Then on to saturday and it was another evening filled with food and plenty of drinks! This time, I headed out with Laura and her friend Amber to celebrate Laura's birthday, starting with dinner at Piccolino. I'd never been there before despite it being on my list to try, and it didn't disappoint. I got the crab ravioli, followed by lemon semifreddo and it was amazing! Then we went out for drinks after, making it to Pepper Rocks 5 minutes before happy hour ended (woo), and then we went to Das Kino and then ended up at Revolution. It was such a good night and really nice to catch up with Amber again (we only seem to see eachother at Laura's birthdays so we had our little annual catch up!). Because it was a dinner and draaanks situation, I wore tan high waisted trousers with black lace bralet under black mesh bodysuit (with pretty frill sleeves), gucci belt and black strappy heels.
Then on to easter sunday and my mum had outdone herself yet again. An amazing roast turkey dinner (one of our family traditions) followed by our annual easter egg hunt. If you're a long term reader here (and one with a good memory at that), you may remember my easter post from last year, where my mum had specifically said that that was the last ever easter egg hunt. Well, my persuasive skills are second to none and so despite the fact that me and Aidan are now both in our twenties, the annual Littlehales easter egg hunt continues (apparently for the last time ever but I'll check in with you about that in another years time). Besides, she can't stop doing them now because they just get better every year! We received picture clues via whatsapp, we had to read some of them in the mirror because she'd written them backwards, we had to translate some of them using the code A=1, B=2 etc and my favourite of them all, she'd frozen one of them inside a block of ice. I think this one showed the difference between me and Aidan too because as we both got our frozen clues out the freezer, he grabbed a rolling pin on the way outside and proceeded to bash it on the bench; I chose to go with raw brute strength instead and smashed it on the ground from above my head. You may be interested to know, that my way was much quicker. And I think it's safe to say (given that I've only just finished my Christmas chocolate), that all these easter eggs will last me quite some time!
I love a bank holiday sunday night out and this time, it was more of a knight out because I was out with Katie Knight (always previously referred to as 'big katie') and her sister Laura. We were joking aswell that the last time it was the 3 of us out, it was Christmas so we were saying we only go out on Jesus days. And then as we got to the first bar, we were served by someone who looked exactly like Jesus! Anyway, I wore black leather skirt with floral embroidery (that fits like a dream), striped t-shirt with floral detailing, and black sock boots. I also went with all pink makeup with a dark pink smokey eyeshadow look and Captive lipstick by MAC. It was a bit of deja vu because again, we went to Revolution and Das Kino, and then we also went to Bendigo, Hockley Arts Club, and then ended up in Bowery (for free, thanks to Laura and her connections). And of course, we were on the tequila shots from pretty early on, as well as being sophisticated ladies drinking gin (although we got totally ripped off in one place because a double gin was £11.80!). Needless to say, I haven't had a very productive day today (I woke up at gone 1pm) but I haven't felt sick so that's always an achievement! And I then ended the bank holiday with leftover turkey and home made chips (another Littlehales tradition) - the perfect end to an eggscellent weekend!
