Treat yo'self
I've been quite restrained in the makeup buying department lately. For a while now, I've only been buying my essentials (mascara, eyebrow pencil etc) as they run out, and haven't actually added to my vast makeup collection. So I was due treating myself to a few bits and I had had my eye on the Kylie cosmetics website. I've only ordered from there twice before and am usually put off because the products are fairly expensive to begin with, then there's the international shipping fee (not cheap) and then on top of that, you get hit with a customs fee once it gets here. I don't order from American companies too often simply because the customs fee is so high (£15-£20 normally) and when I do, I tend to go for Colourpop because the stuff is so cheap that it doesn't work out too badly in the end. But after building up a long list of shades I just had to have from Kylie Cosmetics, I finally cracked and placed an order when they were offering a 2 for $20 deal for Valentines on Lipstick singles, making it much more reasonable!
I hadn't ordered from Kylie Cosmetics in ages and so the velvet finish lipsticks weren't even a thing then; it was just the mattes and so I wanted to try the new finish. I suit mid-tone shades the best (rather than any pale pinks or dark purples) so I tend to go for lots of brown, deep rose and red shades. As you can see from the ones I chose. Let's go from left-to-right; firstly I went with Vibe which is like a light warm brown and wearable all year, secondly is Heat which is a really nice brick red colour, next is Shook which is a slightly purple toned brown and the darkest of the ones I ordered, and then finally is Kristen (the only matte one) which is a medium warm toned rose shade. I really like the creamy velvet formula; not too sticky or glossy but a lot less drying than a matte and still really nice thick colour coverage. It's always risky ordering lipsticks online when you can't test them out first and can't exactly send them back but this time it paid off as I love all of them! Plus, it was about time because when I went to swatch the lipsticks, I realised it was the first time I was doing it with my tattoos, which means I haven't had new lipsticks for like a year! Treat yo'self, and all that.
