Twas the night before christmas

Twas the week before Christmas and in the Littlehales house,
Jenni was getting ready in a burgundy blouse,
To cook lobster and camembert for a family feast,
we even had chicken shaped like christmas trees!
I completed my outfit with a diamond necklace,
and we had so much food there were leftovers for breakfast.

Getting closer to Christmas so I wrapped all my presents,
for the secret santa swap - an annual event,
My favourite girls all together again,
for a festive cheese board, opening presents and then,
The pièce de résistance, a turkey crown,
a complete christmas dinner of which my mum could be proud!
Then after dessert and plenty of wine,
we admired our gifts - I particularly loved mine.
Sian had got me a Dune velvet handbag,
a berry colour with chain strap and a pretty gold tag.
I bought for little Katie and got her a selection,
a phone case, makeup storage and a brush for her collection.

Almost Christmas now we're at Saturday,
when I headed out for drinks with Laura and Katie K,
I wore jeans, fur gilet and floral body,
and we had drinks overlooking the big Christmas tree,
We sang Last Christmas at the top of our voices,
for all of us it remains our number 1 choices!
At Revolucion de Cuba we had festive cocktails,
Laura's was nice but mine and Katie's prevailed,
We enjoyed the music of the saxophone,
then we wanted to dance so we started to get going,
Through town and to the hockley arts club,
the place looked great with neon signs and Christmas shrubs,
Then we went to revs and on to baa bar,
before finishing the night with a quesadilla!

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house,
everything was ready (well almost thereabouts),
I started the day with Elf, a festive fundamental,
before heading out for lunch - christmas bauble earrings were essential,
I wore floral sweater dress and favourite red boots,
and finished with my red chanel boybag dupe,
Then I met Sian and Staci at the last post,
where we celebrated Christmas with a few proseccos,
When the clock struck midnight we said 'merry christmas',
and thought what a shame that the katie's had to miss this!

When we woke up Christmas morning, Santa had been!
My present pile was massive - fit for a queen,
I'd been totally spoilt and loved all my things,
I guess that's what being a good girl brings!
I got a valentino handbag, makeup, homeware and books,
and an amazing rose gold pineapple cup,
There were also queen bee gifts, a bag and a bracelet,
my family have a knack for guessing my favourites,
I also got a restock of my favourite perfume,
and then it was time to get started on the food!
We had starters of melon, prawns and sliced bread,
'see if you can guess which is which' my dad said,
As we played our annual middle class game,
to guess which was prosecco, cava and champagne,
Me, dad and grandma got them all right of course,
although mum not so much - her effort was poor!
But she more than made up for it with the christmas dinner,
when it comes to cooking she's the ultimate winner,
I was proud of my dinner but it was nothing on hers,
the turkey was cooked to perfection by a true master,
So we ate until we couldn't eat any more,
and then we brought out the puddings (where my true talents are),
I'd made and decorated a white chocolate cheesecake,
it went down really well and everyone emptied their plates.
For the day of festivities, I wore navy blue;
a floral embroidered dress with rose gold shoes too,
Of course I had to do over the top, glittery makeup,
Aidan was my photographer (though a job he was reluctant to take up),
And it turns out Bella takes after her mummy,
she loves having her photo taken just like me!
Then after some charades and other christmas games,
none of us were hungry but we kept eating all the same,
We managed to finish off 5 bottles of wine,
by then we were drunk and full so we called it a night!

Then on to boxing day which was a real family affair,
with 10 of us at dinner we had to buy extra chairs!
My uncle, aunty, cousins and sally the pup,
who Bella wasn't a fan of (she went in a right huff),
It was another day of eating and drinking way too much,
I wouldn't say enough to feed the five thousand as such,
But perhaps a small village - we had piles of food!
And being all together brought a real festive mood,
Sally was the cutest but she's exhausting and never sits still!
I'll stick with Bella, she's much more chill.
Then the family went home and we watched The Little Mermaid
and played a pub quiz (my team came last I'm afraid),
Although I nearly guessed the exact date from Back to the Future,
but in the history round I knew a lot fewer,
Then after we'd watched The Big Fat Quiz
and finished off the last of the fizz,
We went up to bed full of festive delight,
and said 'Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!'
