Rockin' around the christmas tree
I love love love this time of year (obviously not because of the cold, the lack of money or the lack of daylight hours) but because there's always so much going on. And Friday was my work's Christmas party, organised by moi. I really struggled to get an outfit because I've just thought that everything in the shops at the minute is awful. Do you know how hard it is to find a nice dress that's suitable for a work do? Everything is either way too slutty or way too prim and boring! Although my prayers were finally answered (quite literal prayers; I wished for a nice dress on like 5 11:11 wishes in a row) when I found this embroidered dress from Missguided (of course). It fits really nicely, is my favourite length and has enough embroidered detail to make it a statement dress! Plus, I had a 50% off code from when one of my Black Friday purchases was out of stock so I got it for like £20! I added trusty black boots (because I knew I'd be on my feet for a looong time) and smokey black eye makeup - putting false lashes on at 7:00 in the morning felt slightly odd! Then after only a couple of hours at work, we headed to the Crowne Plaza for a drinks reception, 3 course meal and party photo booth! We had pre-chosen our food and I'd gone with the leek, potato and watercress soup (amazing), christmas turkey dinner (really nice but I was already getting full) and then chocolate and cherry delice, which was basically a black forest gateau (amazing but I could only manage about 2 spoonfuls). Then after a speech and some awards from one of the partners (in which we won "Team of the Year" yay!), a few trips to the photo booth (the photos have come out so well) and an absolute rinsing of the free bar, we headed down to the Bierkeller at about 5. I hadn't been to the Bierkeller yet and it was really good fun! Made even more so by the fact I didn't have to buy any drinks (free bar tab again yay). I can honestly say I've never been so drunk while spending so little! It was such a good night and it was even better than last years; probably because I'd recently joined last year so I knew everyone better this year. It's also hilarious seeing so many people who are usually very serious (lawyers - it comes with the job title), really let their hair down - a lot of them were even drunker than me! Then after 12 hours of drinking, I finally called it a night and got a taxi home (the only thing I had to pay for all night). Needless to say I feared for my survival on Saturday but it was totally worth it!
