Last stop: tenerife!
This year has certainly been one for adventures and so for my seventh and final holiday of 2017, this time I jetted off to Tenerife with one of my best friends, little katie (nicknamed because we have two katie's). And let's just say it worked in our favour that Katie worked at the airport for 3 years (and so she's now basically royalty there) because we were sharing a suitcase and managed to be 3.6kg overweight! Yet we managed to get away with it (which is always a good start)
We arrived at our hotel at around sunset, after a 4 hour flight on Monday and we were so impressed with it! We only booked the holiday in September but we had both forgotten what our hotel looked like so it was a nice surprise. We stayed at the Palm Beach Club Hotel in Playa de Las Americas and we had a full apartment (so plenty of space), a fridge (to keep our alcohol safe) and a perfect sea and sunset view from our balcony. Plus we were right in the centre of everything; the beach was straight across the road from us and the strip was about a 2 minute walk away. We kept bracing ourselves for a long walk to find something but it never happened - even the supermarket was attached to our hotel!

Obviously Katie was not only there as my best friend, but also as my personal photographer, which of course included daily (and nightly) outfit photos. Even though the weather was pretty cloudy, it was still really warm so I got to crack all my summer clothes out for one last time!
Not only did we have the most amazing nights out (which I'll get on to) but we also did loads of fun stuff in the day too. Our pool was amazing so of course we had to buy a super cute pool float to make the most of it. Although this ice cream cone got top marks for prettiness and absolutely zero for practicality; the second you were nearly on, you just slid off the other side! Or maybe that's just because me and Katie lack grace? We also had a hot tub at our pool which was perfect on one day where it was really cloudy and almost verging on cold (still nothing like home but not exactly what you want). We went to the beach a few times too which was a bit weird because the sand is black (because the Canary Islands are volcanic) but it was such a nice beach. And I always like to do something other than relaxing on holidays so decided to go with a jet ski! I've done one before and loved it and it was on Katie's bucket list so it was the perfect choice. Although it ended up being 1000 times funnier than the last time I did it because Katie (one of the clumsiest people I know) managed to fall in the sea in the process of getting from the speed boat to the jet ski - how she managed that I have no idea! We also had some seriously amazing meals while we were there, which were made even better by the fact that they were all super cheap and all overlooking the sea.

Obviously Katie was not a 9-5 shift worker; she remained my photographer morning, noon and night! Most of my outfits were pretty similar but if it ain't broke, don't fix it...
And if the days were good, the nights were absolutely amazing! We had got in a pretty good routine of getting up around 12, going to the pool or beach, going for a meal at around 3, going for a nap at like 7, then getting ready and pre-drinking before going out about 12, and coming back at about 7. That only failed us one day, where we accidentally napped until 10:30 and didn't get out until 2 (!) so it was a good job everywhere was open until 6. We did also head out earlier one day, so we went for more of an evening meal which was honestly the best steak I think I've ever had (and it was only €9!). I was really surprised by the night life there because I thought there would literally be like 1 or 2 bars and barely any people there (with it being mid-November) but I couldn't have been more wrong! There was a pretty decent strip (I mean it wasn't Ibiza but it was really, really good) and the whole place was still really busy and lively. Plus not only were the drinks dirt-cheap but the drinks deals could be carried over to the next day so you weren't weighed down in one bar for too long. We went for some amazing cocktails at a beach club, got speaking to people from all over the world (including Italy, The Netherlands, Belgium and Glasgow - I bet you can't guess whose accent was the hardest to understand!), made best friends with a load of promoters and of course the guys at the takeaway (they saw us coming a mile off and always waved us over to get our cheesy chips which we ate on the beach every night) and then we went skinny dipping on the last night too (another thing from both of our bucket lists which can now be ticked off).
Having only a few hours sleep and then heading to the airport on Saturday was a struggle - there was one point in the check in queue where I worried I was going to throw up in my suitcase. But we've honestly had the funniest time, I don't think we stopped laughing for more than 5 minutes at any one time and it was the most amazing holiday! I've obviously got serious holiday blues now - especially since it's the first time in forever that I haven't had another one to look forward to. Thanks for the best time ever Kate; when are we booking the next one?!
