Baby you're a firework
For me, the official start of Autumn/Winter has always been Bonfire night and so what better time to bring the thigh high boots back out for another year! I've been loving and living in thigh high boots for the past 4 or so winters now but I only got this pair last year when my others started to fail on me. I love them because they're the perfect length, shape and heel height - or at least, that's how I felt until I wore them to a fireworks display on Saturday and kept sinking in to the muddy field. Well I wasn't exactly going to wear sensible footwear was I? I wore the boots with rust A-line skirt, black polo neck top, rust coat (all new look) and burberry checked scarf. Now that mum and dad are set to start building a house there next year, we decided to go to the fireworks display in Wilford which was really good and they had an amazing hog roast going on. My brother was home for the weekend too so it was nice for it to be all of us (plus, it meant extra people to huddle with for warmth).
Then on Sunday, I spent my morning baking cakes! Obviously with a 5th of November theme, I made these bonfire cupcakes using this Mary Berry recipe (but added 100g of mini fudge pieces before baking) and then decorated with coloured buttercreams, honeycomb pieces and orange matchmakers. It's safe to say that they went down well at work on Monday - I think they only lasted about an hour!
Then sticking with the theme of food, we went out for a family meal on Sunday afternoon to Saltwater (the antipasti board was uh-mazing). Despite it being officially winter (in my eyes), I still wore a mini dress and ankle boots to dinner. This dress (miss selfridge) is such a good dupe for a Self Portrait one and it was only a fraction of the price! Plus, I love that it's monochrome because it means it goes with everything. I went with pink and red for my outfit colour scheme and added pink coat (topshop), red boots (pretty little thing), red chanel dupe bag and red lipstick (Chili by MAC). I can just tell that I'm going to be wearing these red boots all season because I've fallen head over heels in love with them (yes, pun was intended).
