Wine, winding down and a walk back to the dark side
This weekend has been a long awaited one for a few reasons but most of all because Friday was finally the day of my company away day to Center Parcs. Not only was it all paid for by the company but because it was organised by me and the rest of the social committee (yes, we have one of those, we're fancy), I was even more looking forward to seeing it come together! After breakfast, we headed in to the forest for a den building activity that we had managed to keep secret for months (which isn't easy when everyone is trying to squeeze it out of you). My team did a 'Den VIP' complete with roped walkway and bouncer on the door (which people said was "very jenni") and of course we won an award for the prettiest den! I didn't manage to get an outfit photo for the day because I left my house super bright and early, but I wore black jeans, cream cowl neck bodysuit over black lace bralet and then mustard suede biker jacket, which is a new purchase and which I am obsessed with. I also wore flat shoes for the first time ever around my work friends and so I spent the day feeling very short - they noticed too!
Then after lunch we all split off on to our chosen activities. I went with segways which was a risky choice given my lack of balance and famously not being great on two wheels, but I have done it before and so it didn't take too long to get the hang of again and it was really good fun! Although the orange high-vis and orange helmet (that I originally tried putting on the wrong way round) were not very fetching.
Then we had a free afternoon so we went across to the sports bar, bagsied a pool table and got the drinks in (it may only have been 3pm but I think that's a totally reasonable time to start). I literally never win at pool because of my lack of hand-eye coordination but apparently wine makes me clever because I kept winning! I won 3 normal games and a doubles game and it only took me 4 large wines to get that good. Then we walked down to the Pancake House where we were having a drinks reception and BBQ and basically my memory isn't 100% from that point but I know I managed at least another 4 drinks (being in charge of the bar tab was both great and also a terrible choice because I'm not exactly going to say people can't have a drink!)
Then after lasting until half 12 and subsequently throwing up all through the night (well 9 hours is a long time to be drinking), I managed to drag myself to the hairdressers. Another long awaited event was finally getting my hair dyed! I've been bleaching my hair for around 2 years now and despite the fact that it took me so long to get it grey in the first place, I was bored and fancied a change. Plus I knew my hair would benefit (and grow more) from a break in the bleaching. So I went with a warm chestnut reddish brown - my inspiration being Blair Waldorf hair. And I love it - my hairdresser has done such a nice job! Although I did have to stop her getting scissor happy because she wanted to take an inch off my length - nooooo thank you.
Then after a quick nap to fully recover from Friday, it was time to get ready again for Saturday night which was little Katie's birthday night out! I was still getting used to the newly-dark hair so I felt like I needed a light top for some contrast; I went with this white long sleeve missguided top, black mesh skirt, black boots and then embellished Aldo bag. We had such a good night out (involving more wine, just in case I hadn't had enough on Friday) and it was a great way to kick off Katie feeling 22. Cue a year of us all singing that!
