Just bend and snap
As you probably know by now, I am a massive fan of pink. "Whoever said orange is the new pink was seriously disturbed", someone great once said. And it's a cold, hard fact that Elle Woods has made pink infamous in ways no one else ever could and that, paired with her sharp wit, sass and the classic bend-and-snap, will ensure she goes down in history as a female icon.
So the first of my Elle Woods inspired outfits comes complete with her bouncy signature curls and pink lipstick. This pink pencil skirt has long been a favourite of mine and on this occasion, I wore it with strappy black top and embroidered court heels. As much as I would like to believe that since it's August, there are no coats required, sadly that isn't the case so I added a double dose of pink with my blush duster jacket.
Combining my two favourites in to one, these shoes encompass my favourite colour (pink) and my favourite designer (Valentino). Not genuine Valentino yet, but these New Look versions are a pretty good copy. Plus the colour perfectly matches this embroidered 3/4 sleeve top, which is part of New Look's new premium range. I have to say I'm pretty impressed because the quality is really good but they haven't hiked the prices up very much from their standard stuff at all. Unlike some high street brands who are selling the same quality stuff as normal but for double the price. I finished the outfit with these black culottes I got recently, which I am a massive fan of. Unlike most culottes, they don't widen out at the bottom so they're more of a cropped, fitted trouser and I love them.
And the favourite skirt returns again, (don't worry, this wasn't in the same week, I'm not that obsessed) this time with a black and cream combo. Can we just talk about these sleeves for a minute? Oh my god they are amazing; so textured and floaty. Although they do get trapped in everything and it makes cooking or washing up a bit of a health and safety hazard. I also love the shape and fit of the top in general and it's really flattering too. These shoes are also a new favourite of mine. I've wanted some of these minimalistic court heels for a while (the kind that just have a back and front with the sides cut away) because I think they're really chic and feminine. And how do you make something even more chic and feminine? Add pearls, of course. So even if they do slip off my feet more than I'd like them to (probably because my feet are more like a 6 and 1/2 and I wear a 7), they are my go-to right now.
