Cause I'm Miss Brightside

So apparently summer didn't get the memo this year; we had nice weather for like the first week or two of June and then it left on its holidays and is yet to return. So I've been dressing extra colourfully so that even when it's dull outside, I still bring a little brightness!

I love buying statement bags and shoes but the problem with them is that you only get to wear them when they're your starting point. Which was the case with this amazing bag that I got from Aldo in New York. It's a gorgeous Gucci dupe and the colours (along with the tied on scarf) are very Parisian so that's the vibe I went with. Cream trousers and navy court heels will always be a chic combination but then adding a splash of red just adds a bit of spice. Especially with this top because the flared sleeves are fabulous!

It's hard to describe the colour of these trousers exactly but I love them! Somewhere between orange and red, they are super flattering and perfect for summer. I kept the rest of my outfit monochrome with black crochet detail top and black and white heels. Do you ever find that you have a (metaphorical) gap in your wardrobe and then once you fill it, you wonder how you ever lived with it empty? That was the case with these heels. I have black heels and I have white heels but these were the first mixed pair I bought and I don't know how I used to cope without them.

As you know, I am pink obsessed (light, dark or bright). These trousers are a particular favourite of mine because they just fit so nicely and are super flattering. When wearing brights, I tend to keep the rest of the outfit simple so I wore them with this black top (I love the ladder neckline detail and batwing-style sleeves) and black court shoes with a marble heel that set it off nicely.

Clearly, I love these trousers so much that I just had to feature them twice! This time as part of a more casual (well, for me) outfit; black bandeau under a black shirt that I tied at the waist and then black heels with pearl embellishment. Again, I went with a statement bag because the good thing about brights is that it's usually a colour block outfit and therefore easier to work a printed bag in to it. This one is another New York Aldo purchase and I think the little tassel just finishes it off perfectly!
