An egg-stravagant weekend
There were any number of egg related puns that I could've used in this blog post title but the close runner up to the one I eventually chose was egg-cessive! I don't think I've actually stopped eating in days. Things were kicked off on Thursday when not only had my boss brought in cake for her birthday, but she'd also bought us all easter eggs! She is the cutest and she knows that pink is my thing so she made a good choice!
Despite being best friends with Laura for nearly 5 years now, we've never really been on a proper night out together in Nottingham! So now that she's almost back for good, we decided it was definitely needed. We were heading out for a girly cocktail night so I went with a girly outfit to match. This lace dress is one that I love but only seem to wear at Christmas time (probably because it's forest green) and I wore it with black boots, black bag and silver jewellery. We started off in Nottingham's new 'secret' bar, Lost Property which is done by the same people as the Curious chain and is so super cool. The decor is amazing and I think that the way you get in is a really inventive idea. Then we went to The Hockley Arts Club which is a long standing favourite, and I ordered the Outkast cocktail which came complete with a Polaroid picture (shaken, I assume). Then we went on to Be At One Bar, which is normally a favourite of mine but it was pretty dead on a Thursday night so after finishing our drinks, we went on to Cocotang. Honestly, the cocktail I got in there was the coolest thing I've ever ordered in my life. The Regina George, served complete with tiny burn book made of icing. Whoever came up with that idea is a full-on genius.
Then after a lazy day on Friday, I spent Saturday having a sibling day with my brother Aidan, seeing as he's been home for like a month and we haven't really done much together. He was clearly thrilled at the prospect of shopping with me, although for once it was shopping for him and not me. Then after trawling round the shops for half an hour only for him to buy the first trainers he'd picked up, we went for lunch at Gourmet Burger Kitchen. I don't often go to dedicated burger restaurants because I have to be really in the mood for one and only fancy one occasionally but this was amazing. The halloumi starter was incredible and the burger was done to perfection - although I couldn't even nearly finish that mountain of chips!
Then Sunday was another cheesy family day, something that the Littlehales specialise in! Despite the fact that Aidan and I are now 19 and 20, we've managed to keep our annual Easter egg hunt going until now. And because Mum has insisted that this was the last year (me and Aidan both know it wasn't), she made it even more epic than normal (I managed to get an accidental action shot that shows just how intense it was). There was morse code to solve, french to translate and a tea-stained, burnt treasure map to follow. I know everyone thinks that their mum is the most amazing human being, but I'm being 100% serious when I say that mine really is. And now I have enough chocolate to keep me going until my birthday! And if all that wasn't enough, I'd made a cheesecake for dessert too which, even if I do say so myself, was pretty amazing.
Then came the yearly struggle of trying to work out what to wear after spending the whole of Easter Sunday stuffing your face. I went with this chartreuse green bandage dress with black boots and black choker. And if I thought I'd had an excess of food in the day then I definitely had an excess of drink through the night! We went to Das Kino and then to The Bowery Club for their big Easter Sunday party (usually it's their industry Sunday night anyway). We had so much fun and it was a really good night out, even if we were looking a little worse for wear by the end of it!
Then despite the fact that I managed to sleep in until 3pm on Monday (like seriously what the hell), I then got ready and headed out for round 3. Slightly more civilised this time though as we went for a meal at Vivo, an Italian restaurant that we really liked last time and then on to the pub. I swear I was morphing in to a glass of rose by the end of the night! The food was lovely again though and the waiting staff had remembered us from last time, even down to the wine we ordered (is that a sign we ordered more than most normal people?). It was such a hilarious night though and we literally didn't stop laughing. I think it's safe to say that I made the most of the 4 day weekend and I'm glad that the next bank holiday is already within reach.
