Pom pom and pieminister

Okay so I am getting increasingly worse at writing up my blog posts, seeing as this is a post from the weekend and it is now Thursday. But I loved my outfits from the weekend and there was a special celebrity guest in this photo shoot so I didn't want to not bother with the post all together! First of all, apparently my body calendar is about 3 months ahead of everyone elses because I was fully kitted out for summer on Friday night to go to Pom Pom. Although technically, I don't see any rules anywhere about wearing florals year round! I have to admit though that on a practicality level, it wasn't great (see: freezing) but I loved it and that's all that matters. You should know by now that looking good trumps comfort every time. This playsuit is one that I got from Topshop back in summer and am still in love with (I love a halter neck shape) but I toughened it up a little bit with black boots and black choker (public desire and ASOS respectively). I am also obsessed with this make up look. Although I often play around with colours, I tend to keep it on my lid and stick to dark colours underneath my eye (for fear of looking like I've either been crying or have a bad case of pink eye). But on this occasion, I actually dared to line my eyes with a bright burgundy shade and absolutely loved it. As someone wise once said (Hilary Duff in A Cinderella Story); never let the fear of striking out, keep you from playing the game! I used a warm gold across my lid (all shades from the Kylie Cosmetics Burgundy Palette) and finished the look with lots of gold highlighter and Taupe lipstick.

I don't often do casual, but when I do I make sure to do it OTT, so that I'm making a statement that I'm being casual (I'm so extra). So a t-shirt and ripped (more like torn-to-shreds) jeans was the perfect combination for going out on Saturday. I love this strappy black t-shirt (missguided) because it's just such a lovely fabric and fits and flatters perfectly. I'm not a big fan of jeans that just have a single split across each knee - I think do it big or don't do it at all. Although these (from river island) are way too big for me so I added a belt not just because I liked the way it looked but because my jeans would be round my knees without it. I added this printed fur coat (from M&S) which I am obsessed with and then finished with a couple of necklaces and Ginger lip kit by Kylie Cosmetics.

And just to show you that nothing is ever simple in my family (and that more work often goes in to taking photos of yourself than you think), here are a few out-takes. Obviously, my grandma finds it hilarious to pull faces in the background and wanted to get Bella in on the action too. Although it started as a joke, I thought that Bella looked so pretty that she made the final cut!

Saturday was super cute because we were belatedly celebrating Grandma's birthday (we always do because it clashes with Valentine's day) and were off to Pieminister for lunch. What she didn't realise is that my brother Aidan was coming up from uni for the weekend to surprise her. Despite my blabber-mouth mum nearly ruining the surprise, we got her there without her realising and she looked so cute and happy when she saw him there! But the real highlight of the day was, of course, the food! Uh-mazing - I had gone in to a serious food coma by the end of it but it's a restaurant that I would definitely recommend (hands down the best sweet potato fries I've ever had).
