Curiouser and curiouser
I figured that this week, I would write my weekend blog post actually post-weekend, instead of waiting until it's practically the next one! And actually, my weekend started early because I was out for cocktails on Thursday night with my new work team. It's weird because although I only started in October, I've actually been there the longest (apart from my manager, who's still only been there 6 weeks longer than me) because our whole department is new. So having finally filled all the positions, we decided we definitely had to go out for drinks to celebrate! And we had so much fun! We started at Revolucion de Cuba, then went on to a brand new bar called Tier and then ended up at Curious Tavern, the newest bar in the Curious chain (you will notice a theme in relation to my title). I'm a pretty philosophical person and it got me to thinking about how genuinely happy I am right now. Through my 4 years at McDonalds, I made the most amazing load of friends who I gossiped with and laughed with and drank with and who made going to work so much fun. But then I didn't enjoy the job itself and it was never going to be anything stimulating enough to keep me interested. Then with my internship, I was doing something I loved surrounded by great people but I wasn't getting paid so that wasn't built for total contentment either because money became a big stress. And with UNiDAYS, I was doing something I enjoyed and finally getting paid for it but I never really bonded with the people there and so didn't feel truly happy. And now, having come through a rocky patch of job woes from the end of last year, I am finally in a job where I'm getting paid good money to do something I love and am really good at (even if I do say so myself) and I'm surrounded by people every day who are just amazing. And they say you can't have it all? It turns out some girls can!
Then after struggling through a hungover and very tired Friday (atleast for once though it was all of us and not just me), I spent my saturday getting my hair dyed again (goodbye patchy colour) and then got ready to go out. I am obsessed with this missguided skirt - in fact I'm pretty obsessed with anything bandage right now. I paired it with this black choker top and black boots and then headed out with Katie for her sister Laura's birthday celebrations. On to the second Curious part of my weekend; she had space reserved at Curious Townhouse with 5 bottles of prosecco thrown in - not too shabby!
And just in case I hadn't had my fill yet, I then went to the THIRD Curious venue, Curious Manor, on Sunday for lunch with Laura (my Laura, not Katie's sister Laura from the night before) who was back from uni for the weekend. It was SO good to be reunited because I haven't seen her since she was back for Christmas and honestly it felt like years. So needless to say we had a massive gossip and catch up, over good food and good cocktails. I'm pretty sure this cocktail is the coolest thing I've ever ordered. It was a Mai Tai style mix with rum and sugar inside an empty passionfruit skin, which was then set alight so that you could toast the marshmallows that it came with! What an amazing idea! Although I may have gone a bit far and my marshmallows almost melted off the stick in to my drink... The food was amazing too - you can't beat a good slice of red velvet cake and this was a really good slice of red velvet cake! The actual restaurant itself is really cool too and is Alice in Wonderland themed with Lewis Carroll quotes dotted around the place (one being the title of this post). With my outfit, I went back to a top that I used to love but haven't worn for ages because I can't really wear it for work, given that it shows my bare waist. I love this botanical kind of floral print and the black and pink colour palette is just perfect. I've always loved dusty pink and khaki together so I added pink coat and pink shoes and then khaki trousers and finished with Velvet Teddy lipstick.
