Have yourself a merry little christmas

Okay so I've pretty much spent the last 3 days drowning in prosecco and champagne and so I am not looking forward to going back to reality tomorrow morning. I feel like Bridget Jones at the start of the movie (age: 20, bottles of champagne drank: 6, calories: oh thousands). But I have literally had the most amazing Christmas with all my friends and family! I've never been in such a fortunate situation before in that I'm now in a 9-5 job so even without using any holidays, I've been off christmas eve, christmas day, boxing day and the day after (bliss). So my celebrations kicked off on Saturday morning when I met Laura for a hot chocolate, a gossip and to swap presents. She got me a silver watch that I really wanted and that I love (despite my big watch collection, I didn't actually have a silver one until now) and I got her a marble print phone case that was super awkward to find because she has an iPhone 5C and literally nowhere do cases for them! Anyway, then I was pretty busy because I had to wrap the rest of my presents, make christmas day dessert and wash my hair before heading out to our local pub for lunch which has become a christmas eve tradition. My dad knows me well because he got me 2 wines, one for each hand. And that kids, is called a balanced diet. And I pretty much haven't stopped drinking since. Another christmas tradition is the secret santa that me and my best friends do - this was our 5th year of doing it and it was better than ever! We're all such good present buyers (even if we do say so ourselves) so we were all really happy bunnies. Staci was my secret santa and she got me a Chloe-look-a-like handbag I wanted, a Jeffree Star liquid lipstick, a kiko lip scrub, a sippy cup that says 'famous on the internet' and a selfie phone case! Then we headed to our local pub where I bumped in to every single person I've ever met including people I haven't seen in about 3 years, and we saw in Christmas day hugging and singing christmas songs.

Every year for as long as I can remember, I used to wake up at something ridiculous like 3 o'clock on christmas morning and then lie there clock watching until 6 when we were allowed to wake mum and dad up. Considering I didn't go to bed until half 2 this year, I'm relieved that's a habit I've now grown out of. However, when I did wake up, it was to find that Santa had been and had spoilt me just as much as every year up until now. I got so many gorgeous presents including copper GHD's, Marc Jacobs perfume, YSL perfume and DKNY perfume, make up, make up brushes, books, loads of cute stationery (pink of course), jewellery, new pyjamas and dressing gown and rose gold chargeable phone case. However, some of my most favourite presents are the ones that show how well my family actually know me. Like notebooks with cute sayings on them, a memo board with a globe print (like my tattoo), some cute bits for my room, new cups including a wine glass version of a party red cup, a stapler shaped like a high heel, a cocktail making master class and some macarons (which as you may know, are my faves). I've been so spoilt and I always feel so lucky to have a family that gets me such amazing presents. Not because of what they spend but because of the thought that goes in to them all. I was really happy that everyone loved their presents from me too (although my mum wasn't impressed I'd chose to wrap them all in glitter paper because the carpet ended up covered), especially my grandad who is famously hard to buy for! In classic Jenni style, I did an outfit change halfway through the day (because one simply isn't enough). I started off in a 'prosecco ho ho ho' top while I opened my presents and put the final touches on my cheesecake and then because we've always been the kind of people that dress up on christmas day, I changed in to this incredible embellished dress (from missguided of course) once my family came round. My mum outdid herself yet again with her amazing Christmas dinner and I outdid myself with my amazing white chocolate and ginger cheesecake (modesty has always been my middle name). Then once we couldn't possibly eat or drink anything else, we curled up on the sofa and watched The Grinch (the best christmas film - don't fight me on this). Christmas day for me maybe isn't as monumental as it is for some people. I share my day with the same 5 people who I have most Sunday dinners with - I don't have a big family anyway and my aunts and uncles and cousins don't come over for christmas day because they live too far away. So christmas day for me isn't about spending as much time with family as possible, however it does make me realise how lucky I am to have such a close family who I get to cherish all year round.

Most people spend boxing day in their pyjamas eating selection boxes but not us - we basically do christmas day all over again but with even more food (if you can believe it). Not only did we have leftover turkey, pigs in blankets, stuffing and all the trimmings but my mum also made a gammon joint, a whole side of salmon, mini jacket potatoes, cocktail sausages and a massive cheese board. And obviously I got through like another 3 bottles of champagne. I do love how boxing day is a bit less manic though and you have time to look through all your presents and play games and stuff. We played pictionary and of course me and Aidan were the winning team - even though me and my brother couldn't be more different, we're very in tune and so communication purely through drawing was pretty easy for us. We also played some cool party games through Aidan's laptop on Jack box which I loved and I'm now actually tempted to buy it.

It doesn't matter how much I love my family, staying at home doing nothing but eating for 2 days straight can send you a little stir crazy! So I headed in to town with Sian and Katie for some drinks. Sian initially said she wanted to go home at 1 because she had work at 11 today so naturally, we were sat in the kebab shop at half 4 after a night drinking cocktails in Revs de Cuba and then partying in The Bowery. The 3 of us can never resist a good night out!

I was worried that after a few too many tequilas last night and not getting to bed until gone 5, that I'd have one of my deadly hangovers today but I wasn't too bad! Which is lucky really because I had a day of family fun all scheduled in - first we went for lunch at Frankie & Benny's, then we went to see Passengers at the cinema (which was so amazing and I'm glad they ended it the way that they did) and then to play a couple of games of bowling which I am so terrible at. I think the last time I played was about 10 years ago. Also, I had lost my mojo because I was in flat shoes! Not only flat shoes, but flat ugly shoes that make my big feet look 10 times bigger! By the second game I wasn't too terrible though and today was such a nice way to finish off an amazing weekend spent with all my favourite people. Merry christmas to all and to all a good night.
