Dose of colors
For all the times that I've been writing blog posts and Google has tried correcting 'realise' to 'realize', this time I actually need to go against every natural instinct and write in American English by typing out 'colors'. It's so wrong. But these liquid lipsticks are very right. I think I'm having a bit of a liquid lipstick craze at the minute (I have loads of others on my shopping list as we speak). I've wanted these Dose of colors ones for ages now and I actually ordered them back in September but they never turned up so I had to reorder and wait all over again. But hallelujah they finally arrived! They're all in a matte finish and cost $18 each. Let's go from left to right. So first up is a shade called Truffle which is my favourite. It's a gorgeous nude pink (but not too light, because when they're too light it can look like foundation lips - not what you want and thankfully a phase that I never went through) with quite warm undertones so it's a nice every day shade. Next up is Cork which is actually not what I had hoped it would be like. Online it looked like a really warm-but-not-too-dark chocolate brown but in real life it's more of a dark burgundy brown. It's still a really pretty shade but considering I've just got Colourpop's Love bug (which is pretty much exactly the same), it's not really what I wanted. And on the right is Stone which is a darker cool toned nude - similar to Kylie cosmetics' Moon lip kit. The formula isn't as thick as the other two shades though so I think you'd need to build it up. My overall rating? These are beautiful shades and a really nice formula but if you're torn between two budget american brands then Colourpop wins out over Dose of colors (and not only because they spell 'colour' correctly).
