A pop of colour

This is actually kind of a funny story. I've wanted to try out some colourpop makeup for so long it's ridiculous (like most people I reckon) but it was never available in the UK whatsoever. Then rejoice; they started shipping to the UK! But for the bargain price of $25... Considering the products themselves only cost $5 each, that really is a rip off. So then when I went to the US this summer, I figured I would get some over there (not realising it was online only). Then when I was already 2 weeks in to my holiday, I had a look online to plan my Miami shopping trip and saw that no drug stores or department stores or anywhere stocked it. Bearing in mind that I was still in Orlando at this point, I took a risk and ordered online for it to delivered to my Miami hotel (which I hadn't checked in to yet and therefore didn't know my room number or anything). Most normal people would've admitted defeat and accepted the international shipping fee but I definitely wasn't doing that, especially when it was free domestic shipping! It was touch and go for a while as to whether it would be delivered on time, and then I got the email to say it would be delivered on the saturday (we flew home on the sunday) so I thought I'd totally pulled it off. Until the delivery guy couldn't find the hotel so he listed my order as 'undeliverable' and returned it to the depot. Epic fail. So after being refunded for that one and deliberating for ages as to whether I should just pay the shipping fee, my prayers were answered when I got the 'free international shipping' email'!

First up, I got a couple of the lippie stix which are so good because they have the precision of a pencil but the coverage of a lipstick. With us going in to Autumn, I felt like a couple of reds were a good way to go; a bright one (Bootie) and a more berry toned one (Bichette). They have a nice creamy texture but the finish is kind of sticky rather than matte, but the colours are really gorgeous! Bootie in particular is really pigmented and for $5 you can't really complain!

It's weird how similar all the liquid lipsticks look in the tubes compared to actually on! This shade in the middle (Bad Habit) is what made me fall in love with Colourpop in the first place when I saw someone wearing it on instagram and it has not disappointed. It's such a gorgeous rich magenta colour and unlike anything else I have. Bumble is the top shade and may actually be my favourite out of all of them. It's like a really rich-warm-nude-terracotta-brown-pink (I have a way with words). The bottom shade is Tulle and is so perfect for this time of year - like a really warm burgundy brown. These were all $6 each and are all the matte finish.

I saw on Colourpops instagram that they'd bought out these new pre-put-together lip sets and I fell in love with this one (Up and away) instantly. And then when I went to look online at the colours, it turns out that the two outside shades had been on my order list the first time around! This kit was $15 so for only an extra $3 I got an extra liquid lipstick. My favourite from the set is the bottom shade (Mama) - it's a really nice terracotta shade and goes on so pigmented (all of these swatches are only like one coat, I didn't sit going over and over them or anything like that). The top shade is Love bug and again, perfect for this time of year but is more of a nice dark berry colour. The middle is the one I hadn't picked before but I love it; it's similar to Velvet teddy (ie the perfect nude) but this one is in a satin finish instead of matte.

The order had to be over $60 to qualify for free shipping and I was pretty much there so I just had to find one more product to push it over. I decided to go for a highlighter because I figured I hadenough lip products and I don't like buying singular eyeshadows because I forget that I have them, and this totally exceeded my expectations! I went with the shade Stole the show and it's honestly the nicest highlighter ever; it feels like pure velvet or something. It's a really pretty champagne gold colour too so I'm excited to see how it looks when I use it properly!
