Jenni goes stateside: Rock and rollercoasters (part 2)
How's this for irony? We've spent the last few days in the middle of hurricane Hermine, which is the first hurricane that's hit Florida since October 2005 (so for 11 years)! Which just so happens to be when hurricane Wilma hit Florida, which is when we were last here. Clearly we're not good luck charms for their weather then... So anyway, besides the crazy weather (it's not been like town-destorying or anything, just like a rainstorm on speed or something), the second half of our time in Orlando was amazing!
Friday was the day I'd most been looking forward to because it was the day we headed to Disney's magic kingdom! So obviously I wasted no time in buying some Minnie mouse ears (and by that, I mean getting my dad to buy me some as a present) and despite the rainy start, the weather had brightened up after an hour or so, meaning we had plenty of time to pose like proper tourists in front of the Disney castle. I made sure to wear a skirt that I could properly pose like a princess in! Which I did as Belle when I got a photo with Gaston. He was actually good aswell! I got him to say 'crazy old Maurice' and he did it perfectly! And seeing as we have a family joke about me being the alpha male (because I'm bossy, like to call the shots and am much stronger than my brother), my dad made me get a guns photo as well as a princess one. Just like all the other places we've been, the scenery was so perfect and well thought-out and all the food was Mickey Mouse themed (even the straws). The rides weren't quite as adrenaline-pumping as the previous ones we'd been on, but they were so much fun. I was pretty much just singing Disney songs all day and trying to work out which Disney film I plan on watching first once we're home!
Sticking with the Disney princes theme, I wore this beautiful river island dress to go to dinner and then to the La Nouba show by Cirque du Soleil. You remember me saying how the Blue man group shows was really weird? Well thankfully this was nothing like that - this was amazing! They did high wire acrobatics, bike tricks, diablo tricks, a trapeze act, a trampoline performance, ribbon acrobatics, and a balancing act - all done in beautiful costume with amazing music. It was honestly incredible. Photography or use of "cell phones" was strictly banned so naturally I still had to get some snapchats on the sly. I only got videos though which my blog doesn't seem to like, so be sure you've got me on snapchat jenniaimee so you don't miss anything!
Then after a mad 5 days, we finally had some time to relax by our pool! We deliberately didn't plan anything for Saturday because it's been Labour day weekend (America's version of a bank holiday) so we assumed everywhere would be busy and we didn't want to deal with the queues we'd so far avoided. Me and dad tried to get some more underwater photos but we were doing them as a selfie this time so needless to say we took about 129485 and they're still not very good. Trying to get a selfie, underwater, with your eyes closed is not easy you know. But we are both pretty good with our camera timing - evidenced by our jumping in photos!
Then that night we went out for an amazing family meal at Olive Garden to celebrate my mum and dads anniversary. Look how cute they are! They're pretty much goals as well - met at 16, best friends for years, got together at 19 and then married at 26. I would say that's childhood sweethearts but mum insists it's not because they met at 16 and not 14? She doesn't have much logic though. Meaning they've just hit their 22nd wedding anniversary and they've been together almost 30 years! Considering they both drive me crazy a lot of the time, how they've managed to stay together and put up with each other and stay so in love for all these years is beyond me. Whatever they're doing, they must be doing something right. And they had a fabulous daughter like me so what more could they really want?
Then on Sunday (our last day in Orlando), we went to Wet 'n' wild. My mum isn't keen on waterparks so we hadn't originally planned to do it but then we found out that it's shutting for good this year after 39 years in business so we thought we should go while it's still here! And it was so much fun! I totally prefer waterparks to theme parks and you can get a tan in between slides which is always a bonus. I haven't bothered wearing one-pieces since I was about 9 but I really wanted to a find a nice one this year because they're back in fashion and I managed to find two that I loved! Along with the marble print one, I also got this white cut out one (boohoo) with halter neck, open back and gorgeous side detailing!
Then we waved goodbye to our Orlando apartment and drove the 4 hours down to Miami beach to our next and final stop. And seriously, look how amazing this apartment is! This is exactly how I'd decorate my own house; all white marble and glossy white surfaces and lights everywhere. And the rooftop pool is beautiful! I'm pretty sure I'm going to like Miami - don't worry you'll hear all about it once I'm back in blighty! (*cries at the thought of being back in England this time next week*)
