Jenni goes stateside: I'm in miami beach
After nearly 3 weeks in America, Jenni is back on the block! And omg it is so cold back in England; I'm currently sat wearing a dressing gown over all my clothes. So anyway, that means it's time to fill you in on the third and final part of my trip - Miami!
We had originally planned to do some snorkeling or water sports or something down at sanibel island until we got there and found that the sea was too full of jellyfish to even go in so we ended up doing it in Miami Beach instead! The Florida keys are pretty iconic (and where key lime pie comes from) and so we drove down there and then got a boat out to do some snorkeling. Where, ironically, the first stop did have a lot of jellyfish. They obviously don't have a brain so they just float with the current meaning you can avoid being stung by simply swimming around them but it's harder to do than you'd think! We did see loads of pretty fish though (including a Dory and a Gill from Finding nemo), a shark and a sea turtle! Interesting fact: you know the scene in Finding nemo with the turtles that seem like stoners? Well that comes just after the jellyfish scene and apparently, sea turtles eat jellyfish in real life and it basically makes them high! So Pixar movies are more educational than you would think.
As well as the snorkeling, we also did some kayaking around sunset island and sunset lake, which was so ridiculously pretty. It's basically just a super rich area where all the houses probably have like 14 bathrooms and if you were to buy one, it would set you back a few million. And instead of cars parked in their driveway, they have their private yachts and speedboats. Not a bad way to live is it? And the kayaking was actually much harder work than I imagined! I thought it would basically be a relaxing little boat ride but it required quite a lot of arm muscle power to make yourself go! It was easier to balance than I thought though (I was imagining a canoe; I got mixed up) so it was really fun!
Shopping for me is like eating for everyone else; you can live without it for a couple of weeks tops but ultimately, you need it to survive! So after not doing any shopping since I left English soil, I finally got chance to be set free in a massive American mall, where I went mad in Nordstrom, Aldo, Sephora, MAC and Victoria's secret. For full details on all the beautiful goodies I got, be sure to keep an eye out for my next blog post, where I'll be showing you all the make up and stuff properly. I'm actually quite impressed we managed to get it all home without going over our baggage allowance! So me and my mum had a lovely girly day and finished off at the cheesecake factory; she went with key lime and I went with red velvet and they were amazing!
Another iconic area of Miami is Ocean Drive so we walked along there one evening at sunset and saw all the beautiful art deco buildings, some of which have been there since the 1930s! It was super expensive down there though; every time me and my family go out for dinner we play who-can-guess-the-bill and we were all so far out on that one. They charged $15 for a large diet coke! To be fair it was the size of a small child but that's still ridiculous.
In case you were wondering, the weather has been just as crazy in Miami as it was in Orlando! The upside to random storms through the otherwise sunny day though, is that it makes the sea really choppy which we all know is way more fun than a calm sea. So we managed to get some pretty cool photos of us jumping the waves (I totally pulled an Ariel in that photo). And occasionally being swallowed up by them. Well, you win some, you lose some.
As well as everything else we managed to cram in, we also had plenty of time to relax on the beach or by our beautiful rooftop pool, which is something I preferred to Orlando. Which also means I've had plenty of time to work on my tan (and also get my face really burnt on the last day so I look pretty comical right now).

I also saved all my most favourite outfits for Miami. Even if they weren't labelled, I'm pretty sure it wouldn't take you long to guess that almost all of them are from missguided!
Overall we've had such an amazing holiday and even though we've been saying this for the last 3 years, I really think this was the last full family holiday seeing as my brother is off to start uni in a week! I just feel so lucky; I have such an amazing family, we all get on so well and we're fortunate enough to go on once-in-a-lifetime holidays like this one. So if this one really was the last family holiday then atleast we ended with a bang!
